Known as the eclectic neighborhood gastropub, Pubbelly Sushi brings a hyper-creative fusion of Japanese and Latin-inspired dishes by chef José Mendín. When Mendín founded the first Pubbelly, his intention was singular: Create a place where chefs could eat high-quality, affordable dishes in a cool atmosphere. Pubbelly became an instant locals’ favorite when it opened in 2010. A decade later, it continues to be embraced by the market, winning the 2020 Miami New Times Readers’ Choice Award for Best Sushi, and maintaining a spot on every tourist’s must list.
Industrial-chic hub offering inventive sushi & Pan-Asian specialties paired with sake & microbrews.

We had dinner at Pubbelly Sushi on Monday and were lucky enough to catch their happy hour, which runs Monday to Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. The happy hour applies to both cocktails and food: cocktails are $5 each, rolls are $12 per portion, and a selection of dishes is available for $5 per portion.
We were pleasantly surprised—not only by the prices, but also by the outstanding quality of the food.
We tried the Japanese fried chicken, edamame, lobster rolls, spicy tuna rolls, tartare rolls with poached egg, and fried shrimp rolls. Every dish was delicious and beautifully executed. A true culinary experience from start to finish.
To top it off, we enjoyed excellent cocktails made with sake, lychee, and passion fruit. The service was friendly and efficient, with a relaxed pub-style atmosphere and great music that really set the mood.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-quality sushi with a fun, vibrant vibe in Miami Beach.☺️
Overall, would recommend coming to this place on a Tuesday or Wednesday night for a quick bite to eat.
Food: The portions are small, but it’s delicious! The items we ordered had so much flavor and a nice presentation.
Price: It’s a little pricey for the small portions you’re getting. Nearly $20 per small plate.
I wouldn’t recommend it to friends and family due to the lack of customer service and the small portions for the price. Maybe don’t show up very hungry?
I do want to recognize our server, Paolo, who genuinely did the best he could under the circumstances and was kind throughout — the issues were not his fault. That said, none of the food really stood out in a positive way, and based on this visit, I probably wouldn’t go back.
The service was great. Challenge is the general quality of fish for most of the fast casual sushi spots in Miami. It’s pretty crap
If I was to go back, I’d stick to ordering the edamame and the miso black cod. The rolls etc.. not so much :/
