Providence Oyster Bar’s happy hour is one of the best in the city. The buck-a-shuck oysters are fresh and well-shucked, and the discounted appetizers make it easy to enjoy quality seafood at a great value.
Overall, it’s a reliable choice for seafood lovers looking for quality oysters, good drinks, and a fun dining experience in Providence.
Before leaving Rhode Island, I had to try a real New England lobster roll, and let me tell you — Providence Oyster Bar did not miss a beat! The lobster roll (hot and buttered, of course) was fresh-fresh — sweet, tender, buttery perfection on a toasted bun. I’m not saying I enjoyed it, but my empty plate said it all.
Special shoutout to our amazing waitress, Joy, who lived up to her name — friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. The service matched the food: excellent!
If you’re in Providence and want a taste of coastal heaven, this is your spot.
We began with a half dozen impeccably fresh oysters, brimming with flavor and expertly shucked. This was followed by a warm, hearty bowl of clam chowder that felt like a true taste of coastal New England comfort. The highlight of the meal, however, was their decadent lobster scramble paired with perfectly seasoned home fries; a dish that beautifully showcased the richness and freshness of the region’s seafood.
From start to finish, our experience was elevated by the attentiveness of the staff, whose timely service and warm hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed. The menu itself is impressively extensive, offering a variety of dishes that cater to every palate, ensuring there’s always something tempting to try.
Our lunch at the Providence Oyster Bar not only surpassed our expectations but also offered a delightful glimpse into what dining on the East Coast is truly all about! Fresh flavors, inviting atmosphere, and gracious service. Without a doubt, we will be returning on our next trip to Rhode Island, eager to relive the experience and discover more of their offerings.
I’ve been coming here for years. Happy hour times are the best (you’ll probably end up paying double your tab price if you come after that) We needed a reservation for the time that we came.
They have the best valet that are super efficient and friendly.
If you’re not a huge seafood person, they have options.. but they aren’t amazing; I would suggest elsewhere unless everyone else wants here.
A special mention goes to the bartenders, Adam and Steven. They are outstanding—personable, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable. They have a way of making everyone feel welcome while maintaining a high level of professionalism, which is not easy to do. Their skill behind the bar and their ability to connect with guests genuinely elevate the entire experience. They are, without question, among the best in the business.
Providence Oyster Bar sets the standard for quality, service, and atmosphere. Whether for a casual drink or a full dining experience, it never disappoints.
There were a few dishes that we’ve enjoyed at this resturant in the past that are no longer on the menu. I would love it if they put them back in. First, they had a nice seafood fra-diavlo with pasta, and a great Chiopino.
