Had a delicious meal with friends during restaurant week. We collectively had wine, martinis, flank steak, salmon, chocolate cake, and pavlova. We loved all of our food and had a great time.

My family and I visited before a concert because it was one of the only places in the area accepting reservations. I was unimpressed with the atmosphere – bright lights, seemingly drab decor, and a lot of tan colors. It felt like we were in a knockoff Longhorn Steakhouse. When we arrived, there were very few people in the restaurant, and our service was still slow. The food was good, but definitely overpriced for the portions. I would probably not return, but it would do in a pinch.

The valet was standing in the cold instead of sitting inside and he returned my car very quickly. The parking is free, however, if you in up in a lot which charges you went too far. The building is a very well preserved 1920’s Hilton hotel. The restaurant is old school elegance with incredible detail. This was the quietist place I have ever been which made it easy to talk. The distinguished waiter was always there when we needed him. He had a great personality which made my wife and I laugh. The Ribeye steak literally fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. It was the best steak I have ever enjoyed. My wife had the Salmon which she has all the time; she stated that it was incredible. My son had the fish and chips which were golden brown crust with no left over old oil on it, the white fish was unbelievable, I ate some and I will come back and order it. I recommend this restaurant to anybody that wants to enjoy the greatest food they ever will eat.

The service was great but the entrees could have been better. The pork belly appetizer was really tasty. For the price of dinner I expected a better meal. I had the meatloaf which was recommended by the waitress. It was a little dry and only had mild flavor.

Overall, Providence is just OK. Our server was initially aggressive, but after the entrees arrived, we did not see him for quite a while, which delayed ordering another glass of Malbec. The food was creative, but each dish was one simple step away from perfection. The cheese curds were fried at too low of a temperature, resulting in a soft, oily mouth feel; however, the presentation and other flavors on the plate were quite well balanced and delicious. The arugula salad lack any sweetness to balance out the deep flavors of the greens; however, the aged cheddar and hint of smokiness were lovely. The mushroom lasagna was beautifully plated and well-prepared; however, the dish comes across as very bland, even with salt added at the table. The brightness of the garlic chip garnish only slightly corrected this. The star of the evening was the Gnocci. It was beautifully prepared and presented, well-balanced with numerous layers of flavor. We will look forward to trying other eateries in the same area before returning. When we return, we will know to order differently.

The shrimp and grits were very disappointing. It had too much liquid in it. The catfish was not corn meal coated as described on the menu. The service was good. The server was friendly and attentive. The host was very friendly too.

Less than impressed. Poor ambience, place was lit up like an interrogation room, uneducated server with poor service, although she was endearing you could tell she had close to zero training and menu knowledge. Food was average, I had the trout which was actually delicious but my poor husband ordered a ribeye that was actually a strip steak (which they don’t have on the menu). But the cherry on top was being charged $100 more than our actual bill.

While the service was excellent, the food not so. The charcuterie platter had 2 small pieces of cheese, the duck ravioli tasted as if it had been cooked, frozen, and reheated. The pasta wasn’t even Al dente.

We had high hopes for Christmas Dinner, this being in the historic Hotel President. When we arrived, the decor was oddly a farm-style and not fitting of the hotel whatsoever. We ordered the 3-course Christmas dinner special of ribeye roast. The food was unremarkably bland and unexciting. Very little flavor with the exception of dessert. The waitress had zero personality, made the entire visit extremely awkward, and although the place was practically empty, insisted on rushing us through the meal, interrupting our meal to take the dessert order half-way through dinner. We expected so much more from the hotel and honestly, it DESERVES better than this restaurant. There are so many much better options nearby. This one won’t last like this.

Came here for happy hour on a weekday. They have a sit down section and a bar section, apparently happy hour is only served in the bar section. The happy hour menu has a decent variety of staple items. We got the onion rings, fries, burger, pork belly, and salmon rilette. Each item was pretty tasty. The portions are decent for the happy hour prices.
