Outstanding Service, Food! The Proper Burger in Downtown Houston is hands down the best burger I’ve had since my vacation started. The burgers are juicy, perfectly seasoned, and made fresh to order, with soft buns and great toppings. The fries are crispy, and the service is friendly and fast. If you’re downtown and craving a quality burger, this is the place to go.

I am so livid right now! The burger was terrible the fries were terrible! Mind you I asked for lettuce no cheese! I didn’t get any lettuce and they put cheese on it! The food was not fresh I paid 24 dollars for this 24! I walked from my job on my lunch break and if it wasn’t so far I would’ve definitely took it back and requested a refund! Terrible experience and the crazy part was I was starving so hungry and you know when you hungry anything is good NOPE not this!

This place is a real find and the burgers are sensational – some of the best we have had from around the world. We arrived late in the evening, just as they were beginning to pack things up. When many places would have turned us away, they had no issue grilling a few last burgers. We had no expectations but were blown away by the quality and taste. The fries were great and the onion rings were also superb. I’d rate the burgers above Hundred Burgers (Valencia), Bleeker Burger (London) and Dumbo (Paris), which are some of the best burger places in the world. So good, we had to swing by for a second burger the following day!!

Went there last week and service was awful. The tuna burger was decent but the service ruined everything for me. When I asked about a substitution, the guy rudely said “NO”. We decided to still order and when we sat down to eat, a girl walked past and grabbed a straw, the guy at the register and the one cooking both gave her the worst look. There are better spots with better service and food, don’t waste your money here.

Let me start by saying that if I could give them zero stars, I would. My wife and I walked into their downtown Houston location and immediately discerned the disrespectful, aggressive, condescending attitude of the counter staff member. We were standing several feet from the counter because we hadn’t truly decided whether we wanted to eat there, and the staff member walked past us and asked, “are you all ready to order?” His attitude was as if we were an inconvenience to him. He did that on three separate instances. We decided to ignore him and place an order anyway. After placing our order, we asked a question regarding toppings, and his response was so condescending that my wife and I looked at each other and said, that’s it, we’re leaving. Wait….it gets worse. I had tapped my credit card on their credit card reader, but hadn’t signed for it, nor had I tapped to finalize the sale. I told him that I hadn’t finalized and I’d like to cancel. He stated that it was already charged and he couldn’t reverse it. It’s a POS, even if he couldn’t reverse it, he could’ve immediately issued a refund. Even though he hadn’t even started preparing the food, he charged my card anyway. SO NOW I HAVE TO DISPUTE THE CHARGE ON MY CREDIT CARD. I will NEVER even think about eating there again. My wife and I walked next door to Shake Shack and experienced amazing customer service from Essence and her team!! Truly amazing!! Do yourselves a favor. Walk past Improper Burger and go next door to Shake Shack. You’ll be amazed at the service AND you’ll get a good/proper burger!!

MUSHROOM SWISS: crispy shiitake mushrooms, Swiss, carmelized onions, baby arugula
BACON BLUE CHEESE BURGER: bacon, blue cheese, Al bone marrow jam, romaine
PROPER FRIES
caramelized onions, cheese, proper sauce
Finn Hall offers a handful of restaurants so it’s great for a group hankering different things. There is also a full bar, where we grabbed a few drinks.
Although they are open until 11 Thursday-Saturday, I see this as more of a lunch spot! Be sure to check the hours before going. We parked in a nearby garage.
Took off one star for atmosphere only because it’s a food hall, so it’s very casual/lots of people are moving about. Just know what to expect in that regard.

First time customer: Today I tried the Philly Cheese Steak Burger. Dude! It hit the spot fasho! It was a single burger patty with the cheesesteak, onions and peppers, cheese on top of a buttery sizzled bun. (in my case) Paired with a cold beer from the bar near by; man, it was way better than I thought it’d be. About 30 min later, I ordered a second burger to go! I’ll definitely be back for another or to try something else! ***(This place is inside of a “food court” type area; not a dine-in experience. My exp. was during a Monday lunch hour 12:00-13:00ish)***

My total for burger, fries and a canned soda was $27 in total after taxes.
Burger was good. Nothing special about the fries, just generic fries. They don’t come with the burger and they charge $6 for them.
I was expecting something more spending almost $30 on a burger meal. Cost vs reward just didn’t add up.

Comfortable food that is elevated and you will not be disappointed. Everything was packed with such flavor that my taste buds were doing a little dance. My favorite was the fry chicken Sammy and bacon blue cheese burger. And the atmosphere was so chilled a nice spot in downtown.
