Must try joint that started Nashville hot chicken over 100 years ago, grabbed a chicken sandwich at their Assembly Food Hall location and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The chicken was tender, juicy, and had a proper kick to it, but going with the sweet heat honey made it way more manageable without losing any flavor.

What witchery is this?!! A well traveled friend highly recommended this spot so I came into it with high expectations. My wife and I ordered the jumbo tenders. She ordered hers mild and I, medium. On first bite, I thought I was going to be disappointed, but give it a second. The flavor started flooding in, but not in an overwhelming way. It came in in swells, the taste accentuated by other flavors on the plate. The tenders were garnished by slices of sweet hot pickles. Our sides were greens, baked beans, fries and corn bread. Bite of chicken then beans—slammin. Chicken then fries—yum. Chicken then pickles—wonderful. Chicken then cornbread—sweet. Everything on that plate was perfect.

It probably helps that everything is made to order. After ordering, I stood for 20+ minutes waiting for my food and it was worth every second! Every. Second.

Look, I’ve had the fortunate of enjoying some great food, but this contends for the best meal I’ve had this year! Not an overreach—facts.

Did I mention the wings? I couldn’t decide so I ordered the tenders and the wings (I know, big back behavior ), thinking these were going to be your run of the mill wing-joint wings. No sir. These wings are the wings of those chicken’s mother—full grown chicken wings. And perfectly cooked.

Every piece of chicken was thoroughly cooked, yet with the perfect tenderness. My wife doesn’t like bone in chicken for this very reason—fear of being undercooked, but as I said, every piece was perfectly cooked and she tore one of my wings up!

My only disappointment was I didn’t get one of their desserts. While standing in line, they were occasionally putting other pies in the dessert case. Are they back they’re making these too?!! However, the cornbread was a dessert itself.

I had to repent after that meal because I definitely veered into gluttony. I ate well past the fill line.

The food was so good, I got the t-shirt!

10/10 recommend

Not sure why this place has a 3.7 review but this place amazing. I had a little bit of a wait but everything was fresh. The chicken was seasoned, the fries had a great flavor and Fanta on tap, top notch. I am giving it 9.1 out of 10. If you are in the area check them out!

This is definitely a hot chicken. It was recommended to me as more authentic than Hattie B’s. It’s a restaurant in a food court visited frequently by tourists. You’re maybe not going to get “service with a smile” but you’re going to get some great food. The spice level can be intense so honestly consider going one level down from your default. Your stomach might regret it either way…

Now this is real hot chicken. It’s moist and seasoned throughout with flavorful heat. Not too greasy, not too drenched in sauce—just right. As it should be; the Princes invented Nashville hot chicken! And they don’t temper their spice level like some other places in the area, so keep that in mind when ordering. Medium was just right for me. I also really enjoyed their collard greens, complete with a nice corn Muffin to soak up all the juices.

Prince’s is the OG and it shows!

Arrived in Nashville to meet my female partner on a business trip, and decided to try some local food. She ordered the Andre Chicken Sandwich (medium heat) and I got the Chicken Salad (X Hot) with blue cheese dressing..
I found that the X-hot is Ghost pepper. How hot can that little pepper be?
Yikes, it was hot. No joke hot. I am glad I did not order the XX hot..Pretty sure it is Carolina Reaper…
The chicken is crispy and is a tender. The eat of the chicken is moist.
Made well. I think next time, I will get just hot, and stay away from the x’s…whew.
Enjoy this chicken, I would order it again.

Passing through Nashville and wanted to get real hot chicken. We stopped at location in the downtown food hall. Food was great, sides were all good and the chicken tasted good in a few different spice levels. Mild, medium, and XXhot

Lives up to the reputation. I had the chicken sandwich and they give you a lot on it. The spicy factor is real—be warned. I got something in the middle of the hotness scale (hot) and there wasn’t enough water to put out the fire in my mouth. Gets busy but the line moves and seems less touristy than other places. Being walkable from the Broadway strip with plenty of seating available makes this a must go-to.

The place to eat Nashville well known hot chicken! Medium spicy was already very hot so be careful. Located inside the foodcourt on Broadway.

Service seems unbalanced. The older woman working the order counter was wonderful. The younger woman who came out to hand out the food seemed lost. She packed up food for takeout orders ignoring those of us standing there waiting for our food.
The chicken was definitely hot. Even the medium heat was hot. Thankfully the older woman was spot on with her suggestions.
Most of the pieces were very dry. Possibly the use of breast meat and not offering dark meat.
The sauces were all offered at extra cost. Take a clue from successful Chic fil A and offer at LEAST ONE sauce free.
The assembly hall was almost empty. Should have taken that as a hint to find food elsewhere.

Don’t plan to return.
