Awesome Mexican food with great views of Lake Ray Hubbard. The food is wonderful, and I cannot recommend the fajita enchiladas enough—the chicken is good, but the steak is divine! All of this is made even better with the complimentary chips and endless salsa, and the service is also fantastic.

Great food, good service, and lovely views of the Lake. Highly recommend!

Worst experience ever. Took almost 7 minutes to be acknowledged to be seated. Salsa was not good, taste like nothing but tomatoes and vinegar. Had to ask for drink refills. Took ten minutes for someone to take our food order. Then almost an hour for food to come out. The food was good, but not worth the wait. The ladies room was awful. The water went everywhere except the sink. The counter tops and floor was wet. When I reported it to the waitress she said oh I know, it goes everywhere. So if they are aware…why hasn’t it been fixed?

I could understand slow service if the restaurant was full. The patio was packed but there was no one in the front of the restaurant and only a few tables in the bar area.

We will not be back.

My family and I have visited Primo’s a hand full of times over the years. But it’s been a while since our last visit. Either traffic or just time not being in our favor to stop by always seemed to be in the cards. But yesterday, we were in the area and decided to stop by. It was my wife, my youngest son, and I. It must have been the time we got there that was good, because we were immediately seated. Our son wanted to sit outside in order to see the view of the lake. So that’s were we went. Our waitress came by and got our drink order and give us our menus. As we were looking a young man stopped by with our chips and salsa. For me, when I do a review of a Tex-Mex ( or Mexican) restaurant, the absolute first thing I gauge my experience on is the chips and salsa. As we were looking at the menu, I dive right into the chips and salsa. Now you may think differently, but I was not impressed. To be honest, it tasted like tomato sauce with peppers and onions thrown in with a little black pepper. The chips were not up to par as well. Not crisp and borderline stale. Now to the actual meal.
My wife orders the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and my son gets the mini corn dogs and fries. My wife loved hers as well as the rice and charro beans that came with it. My son ate his as well. Though you can’t really mess his up since the mini corn dogs and fries are most likely premade and all you need to do is throw them in the fryer. I always like to try new things on the menu when I visit a place that I’ve been before. Who knows when something will become your new favorite. I decided on the Primos Burrito. The description on the menu sounded great, but it was the photo of the finished product that sealed the deal. The waitress asked if I wanted chicken, beef, or brisket. I choose brisket because there’s nothing better than a good tex-mex brisket with all those wonderful flavors. When it arrives, it looks sooo good. I first tasted the tomatillo sauce, GREAT!! I cut into it and tasted the brisket. Super BUMMED on that. Though it was really tasty, it didn’t taste like brisket at all. It tasted like pot roast. IDK how else to describe it. Like I said, it was good. It just didn’t taste how I expected it to taste.
So even though the salsa was not great and the “brisket” was not what I would call brisket, the meal as a whole warranted the star rating I gave. The meal was great and the waitress was wonderful. Maybe your experience will be different, maybe it will be the same. But I do recommend finding out for yourself.

My bestie and I visited here on a Saturday – July 12th around 4pm for a very late lunch. They had a pretty good crowd setting up on the inside, looked like a big birthday party was happening soon!
We chose to sit out on the patio, hoping to find a good table so we could enjoy Lake Ray Hubbard and weren’t disappointed. We sat right next to the railing and enjoyed the view while we chatted away, catching up on things.
Our server, Ross was polite, friendly & punctual, no complaints there.
We both ordered the shrimp al Mesquite $25, with sodas and a side of guacamole. I would have loved an ‘adult beverage’, ha but I was going in to work. They have a full bar just inside and there were a few people there.
The Shrimp Al Mesquite was so good!
We’re talking 6 large shrimp atop a cheese-topped bed of rice. The shrimp was very fresh and cooked perfectly and so was the rice. I opted for charro beans – so good.
The chips and salsa were good. I usually try to skip them these days but I was hungry and they were fresh and crunchy!
I can’t wait to go back in the evening and really enjoy the ambiance. Like most patios, they do have birds looking for treats – just don’t feed them and they’ll leave you alone, lol.

Visited for the first time on a perfect Sunday evening shortly before sunset, sat outside on the patio with a good view of the lake.

Ordered queso to start with, then we had the El Jefe combo, carne asada, two different cheeseburgers and the Lone Star combo. All of it was really good, with great flavors and not overly spicy. Nice, thick cheeseburgers. The salsa was perfect for adding any spicy you needed with a nice kick of heat and amazing taste. Their taco shells are fried in-house and are perfection. There was a rather loud fan just above us, but I turned it off because it wasn’t doing anything but making noise and wasting electricity.

Music level was great, super sweet waitress who came around just often enough to keep the refills going. As we ate, the sun went down and we got to watch the lights on the lake come out. Not sure what it would be like on a crowded Fri or Sat night, but this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time – just about perfect in every regard.

Stopped here since it was by the hotel. The food was good. The salsa was okay and the menu options seemed good. I ordered the carne asada. It had good flavor, but was a little salty. The service was…acceptable. Server didn’t seem like they wanted to be there, but they checked off the boxes! Just wish the vibe was a little more enthusiastic or positive. The location itself is great and the lights and decor were awesome!

While visiting family, I stayed in a hotel within walking distance to Primo’s. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by a very cheerful and helpful person. It was such a beautiful day, and I couldn’t decide if I wanted to dine inside the restaurant or outside by the water. Once I decided to dine inside, multiple servers passed by and offered salsa and chips. They never realized I kept declining them. But, I loved the fact they were attentive and definitely not ignored. I’m not a drinker, but because of the great specials, almost wished I were. I decided on the spinach quesadilla with chicken. It was awesome and the portion was enormous. Ended up with leftovers and placed a carryout for tortilla soup. It was delicious!! Would highly recommend this restaurant for multiple reasons. The quality of food, extensive menu options and especially the superb service from everyone. Especially, Maria who immediately greeted me at the door and the great service of my server, Ross.

I’ve eaten here twice. The first time I just did take out, the second I ate inside. I ordered a desert and a drink for take out. The churros were very good; highly recommend. The Mangonada could have used a little more liquor. My second time was for brunch on the weekend. Highly recommend the Brunch. The Breakfast bowl was delicious and it was a generous amount of food. The mimosa was also very good.

Went there for the second time and the atmosphere, service, and food were absolutely perfect. The server, I think his name is Austin, gave me and my Chihuahua great service without hovering and pestering us. We were there during happy hour and the prices are really good.

Very nice Tex Mex restaurant by the lake. I’ve had the opportunity to take my wife’s auntie’s to the restaurant yesterday for her birthday and enjoy your meal and it was very very nice. The restaurant sits on a lake in which it has outdoor seating if you choose to sit outside and dine with a beautiful view of the lake and you see all the boats as they pass through some are fishing some just doing it recreationally. The food is magnificent and the menu is very large so you have a lot of things you can choose from and the food is superb. The waitresses were very nice and really helpful. I say overall I will give them one of the best ratings for a restaurant that I’ve been to in a long time. The most impressive thing is that the prices are very very reasonable for the dinners that are being served. I’ve been in places in which some of the same menu items were double the price so I was impressed with that as well as the food tasting very good. Primo’s Tex-Mex Grille I will put on the top of my list for restaurants in Texas.
