My wife and I stopped in for a mid week date night. We did not have a reservation but were seated immediately. My wife had the primo martini, which was very well balanced and well made. Im unable to drink, but they had a nice list of mocktails. I had the mock mule, and it too was well balanced and refreshing. We started with the calamari, which we both agreed was the best we have ever had. It melted like butter. Dinner was the NY with grilled shrimp and a filet. The primo potatoes were a great choice for a side, and don’t skip the creamed corn!! My wife filet was a little underdone, which was quickly corrected, and the chef sent out a complementary prosecco and ended our meal with a complementary tiramisu.
This was our first time, and we could go on and on. Their menu offers a nice selection for both food and drinks. The service is attentive and prompt. We look forward to visiting their oak room bar and patio this summer.

I noticed in a few other reviews that they mentioned the lack of attention from staff that is by far my only complaint other than that we enjoyed our time sitting at the bar waiting for our table, my old fashioned was a little shorter but good to say the least. We had a couple appetizers and ordered the pork chop (12oz) with Mac & cheese and a baked potato. Everything was delicious from start to finish. Our Valentine’s Day dinner was special and I even got to engage with the Boss for a bit. They’re rebuilding their staff so be patient but the restaurant is definitely worth a try. Enjoy

I’m giving this experience a two-star, and it’s not fair to the wait staff. Specifically Bo, he was absolutely fabulous. He was spot on with his timing, entertaining with his comments, and just an absolute joy for the evening.
We wanted to take our 94 year old grandmother for a special experience. Unfortunately the three course meal dinner they list on their website apparently expired, but their website was not updated. The young girl who was our server explained that there was a lot of people coming in asking for this three course meal. The manager Frank said you couldn’t see it expired when using your phone, you needed to use a desktop computer to see that the offer was no longer valid? True, he said this. I think what was most disturbing is that Frank couldn’t look me in the eye when he spoke to me, and quickly walked away.
We probably should have left at that point, but we were there, thought we’d still give it a shot, this was supposed to be a highly rated restaurant. I tried the spaghetti and meatballs, unfortunately it was cold, pasta very overcooked, so much so you could cut the pasta with a knife and pasta held together.
I don’t like to give negative reviews because I do understand that restaurants can have “bad nights”. But if management doesn’t correct situations, the restaurant has a problem. Our bill for three people was $120, was happy to add of $30 tip because Bo was completely entertaining, our server was good too. In today’s economy it’s very important that there is value in the money that you spend.
I hope that this restaurant makes necessary changes, however I don’t know that we will be revisiting.
*Photo below, first time I’ve ever had spaghetti that there was no sauce, the noodles were coated with something.

My husband and I visited Primo to celebrate our 49th anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a high quality place in the little town of Middletown, Ohio.
The staff was extremely friendly without being overly exaggerated. They truly wanted to please; and the manager came to our table to make sure everything was going well.
One item I highly recommend is Primo’s Italian mushroom onion soup. Delicious.
We each ordered steaks that were cooked perfectly to our specifications. My only complaint was that my steak was a bit too salty.
I loved the urban/cosmopolitan feel of Primo’s. I felt it could have been located in a large city somewhere.
All in all, it was a lovely night, and I would definitely recommend Primo’s — for food, atmosphere, and friendliness.

We chose to eat and drink at the bar for our dinner. We were the for Burger Week. The Carbonara burger was fantastic! Thick bacon and an over easy egg. One the best burgers we’ve had. The Cesar salad was good and the potatoes were ok for us. I’ll probably stick with fries the next time. Not a big fan of the pork belly in the potatoes. We knew what we were ordering so nothing bad on their part, just a personal preference. It was also happy hour. Drinks were great and only $7. The Old Fashioned was really good – Bulleit bourbon. Note they top it with soda water, which you can ask not to be added. My wife liked her Cosmo and got an Old Fashioned for her second drink. Service was great. The bartenders were great to talk with – we always like to talk with bartenders about bourbon, drinks, music, etc. They showed us their speakeasy bar too. Pretty cool. Front staff were very polite too. Overall a great experience. We’ll definitely be back.

We celebrated my mom’s birthday with a girls night out and we were so happy with Primo! The mood was set the moment we walked in with cool lighting, nice table settings and a warm welcome from the staff. Food was delicious, we ordered individually but shared everything we got from the long charcuterie board, a couple different steaks, pasta dishes, couple desserts and a few bottles of wine. The chef came out and made sure we were happy and taken care of. After dinner we stepped into the bar area that was right off the dining room, Brooke was our bartender and she was super helpful when it came to selecting the yummiest cocktails based on liquor preference! We ended the night with a tour of their private bourbon bar in the back. It was truly a great experience, highly recommend!

First time dining at Primo. The good: atmosphere, friendliness, wine list, menu choices and Thursday half price bottles of wine. The bad: SLOW SERVICE. Our waiter was very friendly and likable, but it took beyond a reasonable amount of time for him to make his way to our table throughout the night. This may not have been his fault if they are under staffed and we would request him if he had less tables to cover. Our bottles of wine took far too long to make their way to our table after ordering. Same for any food orders. The pictured Seafood Carbonara was extremely over salted. This heavy salt was a consistent theme from the beginning starting with the calamari and the chips for the spinach and artichoke dip. There may have only been two servers for the entire restaurant. I will not give up on this place and plan to give it another try.

Part of this place is definitely the experience. Restaurant is beautiful and wait staff were excellent (hopefully this continues past their limited reservation soft opening period). Waitress started out with explaining menu is designed as a true Italian experience with 5 courses and designed to let the ingredients shine with their dishes not being seasoned except for a little salt. Ordered the chopped salad, mushroom and onion soup, and a porterhouse steak. Others I were dining with ordered the chicken piccata and veal bolognese.
One thing I would recommend to the restaurant is translate the menu, most people in Butler county don’t speak Italian nor are cultured enough to know what it means without speaking the language. I also ordered the Primo 77 drink, something with elderflower liqueur and other “fancy” alcohol. The drink was delicious, could barely taste that it had alcohol but definitely had plenty in it giving a good buzz after only one.
The chopped salad didn’t sound overly exciting but was easily one of the best salads I’ve ever had and the others I was dining with agreed. You should note they only have vinaigrettes and Caesar dressing.
Next was the soup, I’m a big fan of both mushrooms and French onion soup and this was the perfect marriage of the two. Some French onion soups can be overly salty but this was just right, the wild mushrooms really added a lot of flavor and depth, I would definitely recommend trying it.
The steak was cooked perfectly and had a reasonable amount of flavor given there was nothing but some course sea salt sprinkled on top. I would definitely get steak again.
The veal bolognese was okay…presentation was a bit lacking in my opinion and overall could have had a bit more flavor from either the sauce or some seasoning.
Chicken piccata fell in the same boat as the veal, okay but I felt it could’ve had more flavor.
One thing to point out is everything is al a carte, no sides with anything.
Overall, the food was good, some dishes better than others. From a value perspective, I feel the pricing doesn’t align though. Given they are trying to be a high end restaurant (which I’m not entirely sure Middletown is the best location choice), their pricing is above competitors like Jags, Carlo & Johnny, and Carvers.
Maybe once they have their official grand opening in May things will change some, for now worth a try but probably won’t be back again until after the grand opening in hope that will allow menu to be perfected and value to be aligned with the market.

Drew and crew were absolutely wonderful! From top notch service to excellent explanation of any and all questions. It was a slower night when we visited and thought maybe he was taking more time with us. However, he took his time with each of the tables that came in. Drinks were a tad expensive but the ambiance was worth it. They had a daily special, unheard of these days! The 3 course meal special is a great value. The porkchop was to die for…. The ribeye steak was excellent and the tiramisu was perfect! 100 percent will be back.

An amazing dinner. I try a lot of restaurants and this place definitely hits the marks. It’s menu is awesome and very traditional Italian. The prime grade angus ny strip was fantastic. They cooked it better than I can at home. Simply impressive and we will be back. Great drinks. Great service
