Fantastic experience and the most delicious sushi! The fish was high quality; all of the rolls, sashimi, and nigiri were the best I’ve tried, and paired with real wasabi root and ginger. There is a wall of wine and sake options which is unique for a sushi spot and they sell top notch bottles. Our server Harry was friendly and knowledgeable and I will definitely be returning!

When people ask on forums where to find the best sushi in Charlotte, Primefish is always the answer. This second location is truly unique, offering an incredible selection of wine and sake. You can browse and grab a bottle like in a wine shop and it is a sushi restaurant. They even offer preorder for delivery. This place is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood—I can’t go back to average sushi now that Primefish is here.

This place is still at a soft opening stage at the time of this review.
But it was amazing!

Top quality sushi. Great wine or sake options.
The place itself is small and not that formal looking, kind of like high casual, fancy date but not necessarily anniversary date you know?
Definitely recommended!

Hands down the most legitimate sushi spot in town. Tia did a great job guiding us through the extensive menu and sake selection. Follow their recommendations. Caviar service was unique and elevated. You can tell the Chef and team took great effort to put this all together. If you want “sushi” slathered in aoilis or filled with cucumber, go somewhere else. There is nothing here that’s trying to hide what they’re really serving. You can get a better “vibe” for the same or more money elsewhere, but I guarantee you the quality and comfortable service will not match this spot. Kudos for the creative wine and sake retail selection too.

If chef Robin is involved you can expect the best sushi in Charlotte. The hand roll experience is a must try!

Quality, hospitality, and flavor is the name of the game. Welcomed by a kind host and sat promptly at a seat of our choice. It’s a small private atmosphere, the chefs are a wonder to watch. Stellar and vast wine selection, delicious fresh Japanese imports, and the best sushi in the city by the Prime Fish group. Fine dining without the fake over self-centeredness, this is elevated service that feels personal and homey. Can’t wait to come back.

I must say I am disappointed with their reopening and new concept. Previously prime fish cellar was was a truly unique store in Charlotte. It was pretty much the ONLY place you could find high end exotic produce such as fresh wasabi, truffles, Japanese melons, etc.
After their reopening they have transitioned to being more of a mini sushi restaurant. The sushi is good, but thats because it’s basically prime fish. I’m not sure why we needed a second mini version of prime fish.
To me it’s just seems like a shame to effectively lose a truly unique store for a pretty good sushi restaurant.

Some of the best nigiri we’ve had in Charlotte— only an omakase experience has topped it. The sushi was amazing, but our server Harry really made the night! Will definitely be back.

@ Primefish Cellar
2 pcs of salmon sashimi
3pcs of tuna avocado
3pcs of spicy yellowtail
3pcs of California
paired with:
Suigei (drunken whale)
Amabuki Pink
Kikusui Black (can)
Dassai 45
Amazing meal. The sommelier was fantastic, to say the least.
We will be back.
We even bought a bottle of Pinot Grigio to go.
The order of my favorites were
1. Spicy Yellowtail w/ Kikusui Black
2. Salmon w/ Dassai 45
3. California w/ Suigei
4. Tuna w/ Ambuki
The first 2 pairings were simply flawless.
