The parking situation is terrible.
However, Emily was amazing—super warm, attentive but not overbearing. The entire staff seemed pleasant and genuinely looked like they enjoyed their jobs, which is always nice to see.
The drinks were “craft” prices but didn’t taste craft at all. That seems to be the trend lately, but it saved me at least $30–$60 since we stopped after one round.
They seemed to be running a limited Valentine’s Day menu, though there was no mention of it online. The selection was much more restricted, with fewer seafood options (despite all the appetizers being seafood), and they were surprisingly out of ribeyes due to a shipment issue. I understand things happen, but it was frustrating since I couldn’t exactly leave and go elsewhere on a holiday after booking a month in advance.
I ended up ordering the filet. It was just okay; it lacked a proper sear, and while it was cooked to the correct temperature, the meat quality was questionable. The garlic mashed potatoes felt a bit lazy and chunky—maybe that was intentional, but it didn’t land. The asparagus, however, was perfect.
I suppose I just have higher expectations for a restaurant named “Prime.” The quality of the steak felt more like “Choice.” Usually, when I’m paying over $60 for an entree, I expect an experience—education on the beef’s origin or wine pairing suggestions.
While the prices are in line with premium steakhouses, the rest of the experience isn’t. The ambiance was fair, though elevated by the Valentine’s decor; without it, I suspect the space would feel “meh.” The lighting could have been more intimate, and the proximity to the adjacent table made conversation feel cramped.
If you’re coming from the Georgia side, just drive to Columbia and go to Hall’s. Even if you have to sit at the bar, that $250 won’t feel like a waste.
late addition: the napkin fold w/ Dove chocolate + free glasses of bubbles was a nice touch. also the truffle when she brought the check.

Last Friday was our second time dining at Prime Steakhouse. This visit was to celebrate my beautiful wife’s birthday.
We both had the 8 oz filet mignon; mine was ordered medium and hers medium well. Both steaks were very good and cooked to our expectations. They came with mashed potatoes and onion rings that were also quite tasty. My wife also had a house salad that she loved and a Maryland crab cake that she’ll eat tonight because the servings are a nice size and she ordered too much food…
We also ordered a peanut butter chocolate pie to go that we devoured later and it was scrumptious.
Our server, Ravyn, was excellent. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. And even though we ordered our dessert to go, she first brought it to the table with a Happy Birthday and a candle on it! Thanks Ravyn!
Finally, the pricing. This is an expensive restaurant for our small town. I’m not complaining, and I knew that before we came here. When you order items beyond the entrees, it adds up quickly.

I took my wife and our son and daughter in law here because they live in Atlanta and always talk about the great steakhouses they have. We drove from Augusta and I was excited because the last times I ate here it was incredible and good was cooked to perfection. NOT the case this time. My son ordered the filet med-rare and it was very very rare and cool in the center but he ate it. I ordered the ribeye Pittsburgh seared and, while the sear was nice, the steak was more towards medium but enjoyable. My wife ordered a medium filet and it was closer to well done and somewhat dry. While my wife is not one to complain, I would have sent her steak back had I known. When I pulled up the reviews, I see where the restaurant changed ownership and now I understand. I spent over $400 and expected much better. Sad that a restaurant group can’t keep up with the quality of private ownership.

Lovely dinner in a favorite downtown! Such a walkable downtown & this fine establishment was perfect! Loved the Lump Crab appetizer! Ribeye gorgeously red in middle to our order. Salmon special was delicious! We were able to relax after six hours on the holiday highway. Excellent choice!

This hidden gem was what my husband and I needed for a night out. It reminded me of a cute, quaint, romantic spot in Birmingham. The hostess was very cordial as was the server. I will say she was the best in the place and we made sure to let her know when we left her a nice tip! She’s a treasure! The food was absolutely delicious. I started off with the crab cake as an appetizer. My husband had calamari. We chose the filet mignon and cowboy ribeye with an added lobster tail for our entrees. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I had only one small issue which was that my steak came out warm instead of hot. I mentioned it to our server but declined sending it back. I declined because I didn’t want to wait and have my husband finish eating before I could eat and it was as seasoned so well until I just looked past that small detail. Other than my butter not melting on my steak, everything was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to dine again!

We checked out the Prime Steakhouse. Hubby had been a couple of times with work. It was my first time. The portions were more than I was expecting. We were too full to check out the dessert menu, next time.
Sides: (special) carrots in cauliflower puree and mascarpone and pomme frites
Salmon

The food was delicious. We ranged from Crab Cakes to 3 different types of steak. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The garlic mashed potatoes were also great. The only reason my overall rating is not higher, is the value. Pretty pricey when I have had food just as good, for half the cost.
