We chose PRIME in McAllen to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and it turned into a night we will never forget. From the moment we sat down, everything felt special. I had the lamb which was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, and my wife’s shrimp pasta was just as incredible! rich, comforting, and beautifully prepared.
What truly made this evening extraordinary was Daniela. She wasn’t just our server… she was a huge part of why this night felt so meaningful. Daniela was super warming, genuinely kind, incredibly attentive, and made us feel celebrated the entire evening. Her attention to detail, thoughtful recommendations, and sincere care turned a great dinner into a truly unforgettable experience. She absolutely made our experience pop and elevated our anniversary in the best possible way.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Prime. The food a d service were great. Lots of food and drink ordered at our table and I only got photos of the amazing desserts. The brulee was a little bland and slightly over toasted but not enough to take away any stars. Definitely going back and will recommend.

I ordered the prime ribeye, baked potato,
salad for us both. I never noticed everything was á lá carté.
The steak was very lean, with absolutely no marbling. I’m 60, and have eaten steak in hundreds of different restaurants.
This is the first one I ever had to add salt to, just so it had some flavour. Don’t get me wrong, it was probably a “prime cut” of the ribeye primal. Just not “prime grade”.
The potato was perfect.
Salad was perfect.

$$$$50 x 2= $100 for 2 14oz steaks.
$8 x 2 = $16 for 2 dinner Salads.
$8 x 2 = $16 for 2 baked potatoes.
$8 for 1 unsweetened tea.
$8 for one draft beer.
$16 tip (sorry to the server. I tipped on the value of the food)

It was a good meal.
But the price doesn’t come close to matching the quality.
$8 for a baked potato,
$8 for a dinner salad,
$8 for a 12oz beer,
$8 for a salad,
and
$$$$50 for an á lá carté 14 oz, less than mediocre cut of beef, in a strip mall restaurant.
I’m not happy at all.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The only value they offer is,

Wow. The food and drinks were great. I had an amazing knowledgeable server and i LOVE that(thanks Eddie) everything was worth it.
I do want to say A reservation was made over phone and yet wasn’t written down. Hostess said we must’ve made it with manager which makes even more no sense and I wasn’t given a flower like the rest of the groups/couples coming in. We were still given a table so it’s fine and i had 100 roses in the car from my date so it’s okay lol. I just thought that was weird and even showed the call log/name of individual we talked to and they had no excuse/reason as to why name wasn’t written down for reservation and didn’t offer the flower anyways…

The food was not wow and it was Expensive! Drinks cost over $18! Those are airport prices! Carpaccio $45! What – it’s not even fresh! Not worth the pay for the ambiance – it was dead inside and the manager/ she was never engaging- she was leaning on the front podium with her phone! Sorry- not returning!
Oh and $2 fee for splitting a plate!

One of the best if not the best restaurant on this end of town. Never disappoints, I’ve had several off the menu requests. Love dining at the bar when solo because Miguel always makes sure my drinks keep coming and my food is delivered just as I expect. Don’t ever miss the opportunity to join them for your dinner or special occasions. They also have the best Filet Wellington in town, that can be paired with one of their premium cabs.

Prime is a sad attempt to be a quality steakhouse and/or dining experience. The restaurant seems classy and upscale upon entry, but the food leaves much to be desired. At the price point you’re paying to dine here, you’d expect to be served amazing quality food, but almost every dish from beginning to end is a disappointing and pretentious attempt at justification for the price tag. Meats are overcooked or undercooked. The appetizers are dainty and lack any real flavor. You can’t help but wonder why someone in the back feels like they can’t reach for the salt or any real seasoning. We had a semi-large gathering here and I paid almost 2K for a bunch of food that left us all feeling almost as if it were a scam of a dinner experience. Almost everyone I spoke to after dinner asking about the experience embarrassingly admitted they have had better. My server was great, she was very attentive to the table and etc, but unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place or find a reason to be going back.
