Savvy Exploring
I got the Farmer’s Plate, and my companions got the croque madame, croque monsieur, and risotto. Everything was fine but the risotto was a very small portion for an entree. The croques came with decent size side salads of greens. The farmer plate had some really fun pickles zesty, blue cheese, mushrooms, brie, grapes, mustard, 2 meats, butter, crackers, and thick baguette slices. I really enjoyed the pickles! The meats didn’t have a ton of flavor. The baguette was great but I wish it was cut thinner.

First time here for lunch. We order steak and calamari fritti. Everything tasted perfectly! Many good selections. Good staffs and service. Highly recommend this place.

I highly recommend the burger combo; it’s delicious. The meat skewers are also good. I don’t recommend the fried oyster, it’s not good value for money and doesn’t taste good.

Had a good dinner here. I know there is inflation and everything but I felt the amount of bread we got for 7 dollars was really ridiculous. Like in the past you would get complimentary bread and sure maybe that’s dead these days but does this look like 7 dollars of bread to you? Everything else was fine. The food was good and would try again but maybe sneak in bread in my pocket? Idk.

Prima Bistro in Langley offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a menu that shows promise but leaves room for refinement. The appetizers were the highlight of the evening. The herb-buttered escargot was rich and flavorful, and the sardines carried a nice balance of freshness and depth. That said, the portions felt modest for the price point, leaving us wishing for just a bit more.
The entrées, while thoughtfully presented, lacked the finishing touches that elevate a good dish into a great one. My risotto had the right texture and creaminess but leaned too salty for my taste. I added wild king salmon as a protein, but unfortunately, the first filet was overcooked and dry. To the server’s credit, a replacement filet was brought out promptly, though it was undercooked and mostly raw.
The Nectarine Cobbler ended the meal on a sweeter note, the fruit was deliciously warm and spiced, though the ice cream pairing fell short with a slightly icy texture instead of the creaminess expected.
What truly stood out was the service. Jen, our waitress, was gracious, patient, and exceptionally attentive. She answered our questions thoroughly and worked hard to ensure we felt cared for, which elevated the overall dining experience.

MUST VISIT: Prima Bistro is a must visit when visiting Whidbey Island. The staff are kind and professional, the atmosphere/view is stunning, and the food is absolutely delicious. While visiting the island, I made it a point to return to Prima Bistro a few times. I personally loved their
Beet Salad & Escargot. I could’ve eaten my weight in both! The salad has these lovely glazed walnuts that elevate the salad. And the Escargot are served in a herb and what tasted like garlic butter. And while I don’t typically eat, escargot, prima bistro has turned me onto them now/made me a fan!

Overall pretty pricy for the food portion and taste; great atmosphere and view though. The deep fried fish and chips was crispy but a little bland – would be great with just a little more salt. The pan fried fish was actually soaked in oil and was quite greasy. The cocktail we got was so pretty and tasty too. We enjoyed both of the desserts we got.

My burger was properly cooked and tasted pretty good, but my French Frys were cold. My Wife’s fish was poor and her French Frys were also cold. The best part of the meal was the waterfront view from the window. the outdoor seating area looked very nice.

Restaurant service could use an over haul! The Prima Bistro does have good out door seating. The wait for service was long while staff seemed to be exhausted already from the evening! My husband’s old fashion came with a well (very low grade), he didn’t get asked what type of bourbon he wanted & his glass was cracked & chipped in multiple places, my mocktail was delivered in the can (a nice touch if I was offered to had it poured). Staff was either hustling around or parked in the back in a group chatting away. In the bathroom, all trash bins were overflowing. We visit this restaurant a few times a year this year will probably be the last. Our experience should’ve been a lot better since it is one of the top restaurants in the Langley. Includes an ok wine selection.
I would have used hand rail in the stall if there was one.

This place is great, I’m reluctant to tell anyone about it so that I can always get a table. Great service and cuisine, chef must have green thumb because anything from their garden was delicious.
