We’ve always wanted to try the Press Room since we’ve seen such good reviews for the place. Cozy is definitely the vibe, and quality is there. We were very happy with our choice when deciding where to spend a nice evening. They definitely seem to be a great spot for wine, but if you’re looking for a cold beer then this isn’t the place. Not much of a variety, but they did have Peroni which is kinda cool.

Started off sharing the burrata salad which was super tasty. A server came buy with fresh baked bread which was definitely nice to see.

I had the swordfish and it was good! The sauce on the side was necessary and I was maybe a little disappointed with only 3 stalks of asparagus, but the swordfish was huge! Swordfish tends to just be a little flavorless and I was hoping the sides would blow me away. But overall it was good!

My wife had the duck. She loved it.

Dessert was great! Highly recommend the creme brulee.

Our server was fantastic! Super attentive and friendly. Overall a great spot for dinner, maybe next time we’d try some of their pasta dishes along with a wine.

Recommended by two people familiar with the area as being one of the best restaurants around, we brought our family here to celebrate the holidays early. Outstanding service and food!

We made reservations and asked about handicap accommodations for a wheelchair. There are two steps, and they had two wonderful gentlemen open the doors and bring up the non-motorized wheelchair and person easily and seat us at a convenient table already with a space of the wheelchair.

Angie, our server, was so friendly and excellent, giving suggestions and her opinions on food as we asked and keeping our table cleared of used dishes and our water glasses full. Even with a busy night, our food was served in good time at a good temperature. Everyone loved their meals – seafood chowder, special steaks for the nights special, breaded pork cutlet (yum! reminded me of Wiener Schnitzel), appetizers and desserts. The tiramisu was a nice size serving and the dark chocolate custard (like a thicker mousse – was oh so amazing).

Everyone had a great time and meal. One person said it was the best steak she ever had (the nightly special) and my husband was talking about coming back as we were leaving.

For parties more than four, I think it would be good to make reservations early and to update the restaurant as the party size changes. Initially, we had a party of 8 which became 6. The table fit 6 perfectly, but 8 would have more difficult blocking the walkway or may have needed a table farther back or in the other room.

I think it would be good to call for reservations in general, since it was a Monday night Christmas week and walk-ins were not accepted due to the number of reservations.

This place is such an absolute gem. There is plenty of onstreet parking located out front. I recommend making reservations to be safe, doing so will ensure you get the best seating in the house! The prices are impossible to beat. Where else can you get a massive steak for $26? The flavors are incredible and the menu is so simply yet so creative. The whole experience was great and we both enjoyed our plates! Will definitely come back

This review is after 2 separate visits. Service was great and atmosphere was great. That said, I our first visit, my wife ordered a crab pasta dish, and I ordered the scallops with mushroom risotto. The second visit my wife got the scallops with risotto to see if it was just a one time thing (I did not go). Unfortunately the dishes were extremely bland and underwhelming which we were pretty shocked to experience given the reviews. There must be some other great dishes on the menu, but these were not it. The food quality is the most important part of our restaurant experiences, so despite good service and great ambiance, I can’t give this better than a 2 stars when I’d rather have a home cooked meal over what we ordered. I am truly not sure they used any salt in any of the dishes we were served, which was baffling to me.

We will likely not be back considering the other restaurant options around. Would rather drive elsewhere.

First time, service from David was great. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offerings. He also packed up our meals at the end and was very polite. I had the grilled duck with the confit hash and I would recommend it and I would also order it again, it was so flavorful and tender. Will be back sometime.

This is by far our favorite restaurant anywhere! The food, the service, the atmosphere is all 5 star! The food is always excellent and the oysters are always top notch! It truly is a “must go” for locals and visitors.

My husband and I are visiting from Pittsburgh and made reservations at this restaurant. What an amazing experience! We were greeted by Brian and felt so welcomed. Sarah was our server and she was so kind, knowledgeable about the menu as well as the specials for the evening. We were not disappointed and would definitely recommend!!

Stumbled upon this gem in Shepherdstown the other day, the dining area was busy on a Saturday evening which is to expected, however the bar area is full service and is first come first serve and a group had just cleared out as I was walking by. Must have been divine intervention by the foodie gods!

I was welcomed by the bartender who I believe was named Susie, she was very welcoming and attentive to all of her customers’ needs the entire duration of my visit. I ordered the 16oz Ribeye special(I was hungry) and paired it with the red wine pictured in this post. Wonderful pairing, with the steak that I ordered medium rare and came out cooked to perfection.

Amazingly, I still had room for dessert and the lavender creme brulee (also pictured) was a great finish to the meal. Compliments to the chef! Also, the pricing was very reasonable for the amazing fine dining experience that is provided here. I highly recommend The Press Room for a solo food adventure or for a date night!

Been here 2 times for work lunches and it might be one of my favorite spots. I’m upset I didn’t find them sooner. Oysters have been amazing both times (they have this vinegar with picked onions that you drizzle on top paired with horseradish and ooooh my lord!) I haven’t had anything I haven’t liked yet.

We were in town to visit family during the holidays, and specifically to spend time with my mother before a procedure. Due to this, it was risky for my family to eat out. We were excited to treat them to a nice meal and were prepared to have oysters and drinks at the bar while waiting for the kitchen to prepare the to-go meal (entrees only for five). Unfortunately, the manager was adamant that they simply couldn’t accommodate this. Wholly disappointing given the kind of community I expect to encounter in Shepherdstown, and especially during the holidays.

Our server, Angie, was kind and accommodating from start to finish. Five stars for Angie and the oysters. I can’t say I will be back even under different circumstances.
