We were looking for Hojicha latte and finally found a place in Detroit area. We didn’t have a time when we get there, so we just ordered only Hojicha latte and cheese cake to go, but the Hojicha latte was so good and cheese cake too. I saw the menu they have several macha bases Japanese sweets that’s looks really good. We would definitely coming back again and try another tea and sweets. Cafe is very clean and atmosphere. Cafe staff is very friendly too.

This is THE best matcha latte I’ve ever had and I’ve tried them all. The matcha to milk ratio is perfect! Now I avoid going to other places for matcha…why bother. And Starbucks is just awful compared to Maiko. I just wish they were open earlier, like 10 am or 11 am. And customer service is excellent! All those 1 star reviews are fake. Don’t believe them. It’s probably a competitor leaving those reviews.

The best matcha I’ve ever had. No other matcha place compares. They have a lot of different flavours and they also have soft serve! Very rich authentic matcha flavour. Definitely recommend this place for some real good matcha!!

There is construction around the building as of nov. it gets pretty crowded inside on weekends. Lots of people visiting.
The matcha and ube soft serve ice cream is good! Matcha is not too sweet. We liked it.
The black sesame matcha latte is a cold foam style. The black sesame taste is very subtle. Good to try but not something id go back for.

If I could leave negative stars, I would. I’ve been here a few times, but after this experience, I won’t be back. It took 20 minutes just to take my order. There were plenty of employees, yet no one at the register because they were all chatting in the back. When someone finally came out, she was rude and unwelcoming.
The matcha is shockingly low quality. It is chalky, bitter, separates within minutes, and my drink somehow even had wood in it. It is a shame to have a place like this represent matcha. Instead of respecting the product and its culture, it feels like matcha is being gentrified and cheapened into an overpriced novelty.
The ice cream is overpriced, especially the toppings. The machines are often broken, and the ice cream literally fell into my drink. Seating is always unavailable, which makes no sense for a café, and the plants in the middle feel like a fire hazard.
Despite the nice exterior, this is a poorly run establishment. Employees do not wear gloves or hair restraints, do not wash their hands after handling cash, there are dogs inside, and the place is sticky and dirty. Honestly, this is the kind of situation the health department would be concerned about. Overall, a huge disappointment. I won’t be returning.

I loved this place a lot! The ube matcha and tiramisu matcha were both super good.
The ube matcha was super smooth and the ube tasted amazing with the matcha and the tiramisu matcha came with cold foam on it and cocoa power, making these two a memorable drink!
This place is super popular and when we were there lots of people were studying and I would go again whenever I can!

This place has amazing Matcha and ube products. There aren’t a ton of areas with such a specialty and I am so greatful for my friend showing me this place. There are so many options as well. I decided I would try the Maiko Special and it did not disappoint. I chose the ube ice cream and it came with two mochi balls a macaron layered with ice cream(of your choice) matcha cake and some type of sweet bean and some jelly’s at the bottom. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing is I wasn’t the biggest fan of getting a whole bean(but that’s a me issue). I also loved that they used wooden utensils. I plan to come back to this place!

Premium Matcha Café Maiko in Troy is definitely worth checking out if you’re into sweet treats and flavorful drinks. We stopped in and tried a custard, Oreo, and ube taiyaki — all three for just $8.50, which felt like a great deal. They came out warm and fresh, and each one had its own vibe. The custard was smooth and creamy, the Oreo was super fun with a bit of crunch, and the ube had that rich, nutty sweetness that’s hard to beat.
We also grabbed a slice of cheesecake and wow — it was amazing. Super creamy, not too heavy, and just the right amount of sweetness. It really stood out and might have been our favorite part of the visit.
