The place was clean, bright, and modern. Our server was very attentive and patient. And the food? Well, the picture speak for themselves.
We will definitely be taking advantage of the take and bake option as some point. Great experience!
If the name sounds familiar, they have locations at the very touristy destinations of the Seattle Center Armory (i.e. Center House for us old school folks) on the historic Seattle Waterfront.
Owned by Nathan and Karen Bainbridge, PMP inhabitants the strategic and beloved location in Renton’s Downtown area on 3rd Avenue and Main. This is the spiritual homebase of the PMP brand, and Renton residents, and diners, are glad its here.
Their unique pies are formed by hand from machines that are, literally, over 100 years old. But PMP puts their own modern twist to the classics.
They have both savory and sweet pies.
I particularly enjoyed their Guiness Sheppard’s Pie with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and lager based gravy. A tasty side salad is recommended to keep you honest as you cleanse your palate for other offerings.
Adult beverages for your order? Along with being available in their main dining area, PMP has a special bar area with screens available for local sports broadcasts! Need a cocktail?? Specialty spirits along with a few choice microbrews on tap.
How about a dessert pie? Well you must enjoy my personal favorite of their berry cobbler with a scoop of ice cream.
In all, for its very efficient space, this place is a destination, a local hangout, date night location, and fancy sports bar.
Come on down for pie, and a premier experience!
I ordered Steak and Mushroom pie and coffee with. The pie was:
1) Freshly made. They made their pies in behind the window in the second photo
2) Ingredients are great quality: The beef was not chewy and fresh, mushroom is smaller buttoned mushroom I think? Either case the mushroom is not mushy (forgive the pun) and held itself well
3) The taste: Gravy got great taste and I think good beef stock was used in there, with mushroom adding more of the savory flavor into it;
4) The pie (crust): Fluffy and crispy as it should, its a great pie that one would want to enjoy holding it in their hand and bite into it. Granted, it might be messy, but the pie taste great when biting into the stuffing and pastry. The whole pie held up well as I was devouring it.
I would love if the pie can be bigger, but the quality definitely made up for it.
I tried the classic Scotch pie with mashed potatoes and gravy. It wasn’t the crispiest crust, but the savory beef, rich gravy, and creamy mash made every bite super satisfying. The tomato basil soup was comforting and flavorful, and the cherry berry pie with fresh blueberries was the perfect sweet-tart finish. Both the pie crust and the dessert crust are a little undercooked. I wish it had been a little more crispy.
Shoutout to Susie for her warm, friendly service—she made the experience even better. Cozy, clean, and relaxed vibe. If you’re in Renton and craving something hearty and homemade, this spot is a must!
Ordered a couple of drinks, the Steak and Mushrooms Pie (the best thing we had), the Curry and Lamb Pie, the Sausage Roll and the Apple and Peach Cobbler (second best thing).
Everything was great but the service was even better. Our server was attentive and funny.
We asked for some whipped cream for our dessert pie and he brought it back up with a nice presentation.
Overall we spent about $65ish for two people.
Ambiance is very nice, booths are super comfy. It’s a cute and cozy little spot.
The vibe celebrates local and global futbol, as well as sports closer to home. they have amazing local drinks to wash it all down. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch or taking a few pies home, you have to try this place. It’s a total gem!
To add, they have a fantastic happy hour menu, and rotating daily specials. Kids eat free on Mondays, which is pretty great if you have a family.
