The only thing gourmet about the restaurant were the prices. The menu offers no options. Apparently it is not an actual restaurant, but a bunch of chafing dishes set out on tables with mass produced food from a caterer. The waiter did absolutely nothing beyond bringing us water and a drink from the bar. As we sat down with our self-serve plates he put down the check. There was no attempt to ask how our meal was. No offer of desert or coffee. From the time we sat down to the presentation of the check was ten minutes. We hadn’t even taken a bite of the food.
The chicken was practically raw. The half-dollar size salmon chunk was smothered in tartar sauce. The salads were mass produced, not even salad bar style. All in all, driving through a fast food joint would provide better food and service at an eighth the price.

I would agree with some of the comments on the review. The buffet was $60 per head and the a la carte menu has hardly any options rather than the salads. Very expensive and didn’t enjoy the buffet experience as the servers are quite stingy on the serving! We feel watched on how much we could eat! Apart from the convenience of being inside the opera house, there are definitely better options outside.

It could be so much more. The experience is a bad diner. Buffet, quality of food, is average to bad. The a la carte underwhelming and not value for price. Add service where the servers all should be taken out to a little off site for a serious pep talk. So NOT worthwhile unless you are running late then just order food for intermission. Otherwise, so many great restaurants nearby. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!

We love eating at Prelude. The food is inspired, service attentive and the location perfect if you’re going to the ballet or opera. The option to preorder for intermission and have everything waiting when you arrive is amazing.

food selection is sparse, unimaginative, and mediocre. Very overpriced. We minimized our visits. Our friends have minimized their visits also.
