I’ve been wanting to visit since I heard they won the ‘Iowa Tenderloin of the year award’ a couple years back. Place was about half full at 11am on a Sunday. Had a party of 6 and was initially asked to split up and sit at 2 separate tables. They said they just got a new floor and couldn’t move tables together. Bewildered, we waited for one of 2 tables that would fit our group all at one table to open up. Wait staff was nice after the initial confusion, the food was fresh, hot and came out quickly. We came on a Sunday so both breakfast and lunch were offered. Tenderloin was pretty good. This is a thicker tenderloin (think tenderized butterfly chop), very juicy, came out hot. Spring mix for lettuce was a strange choice because it came out wilted from the heat of the tenderloin. Not overly seasoned either, but I left happy with my selection. Breakfast items were good and I think for the most part prices were in line with what other places would charge. Not sure I would drive the 30 minutes back there for a Tenderloin, but might go back for live music sometime,. As long as it’s outside on the patio. I would hate to scratch their new floors.

Prairieburg—deserves minimum 10 stars — I haven’t been there since I was a kid (my Grandpa’s hometown), in the original building. Have heard many say we needed to try their pork tenderloin (BEST in Iowa 2020). We stopped in tonight the place was busy. The bartender (our waitress) was awesome she was kept running yet took time for personalized service to each table (10 stars to her, our pop glasses were always filled). The reputation is well deserved that was the best tenderloin (or as we grew up calling them pork fritter) we’ve had since moving back in 2020. I’m not sure why the onion rings aren’t the big selling point though they were simply the best we’ve had in years. Everything about the meal was superior. It’s a neat lil joint in a small small rural town but well worth the drive. As far as my tummy is concerned it was worth every penny – that said it is VERY REASONABLY PRICED!! We definitely will be back…

We read about the tenderloins and made the trip to your restaurant. The tenderloins were good, the breaded cheese balls were great, huckleberry ice cream was great, service was good. The men’s bathroom was disgusting. We will not return.

I had heard this place was good, but it ended up being absolutely amazing! The tenderloins are like no other. We also got cheese curds, onion rings and fries. Again, they were the best. Seriously. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean. So worth the drive. You won’t be disappointed.

Best little secret in Eastern Iowa. A must experience. Excellence in food and service! We celebrated our anniversary with grilled salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, jumbo grilled tiger shrimp, grilled veggies and don’t forget toe salad bar! Too full for their dessert offerings! Must return!

Now I can say more than it is a nice looking building since I finally made it by when they were open. They make a great fried pork tenderloin sandwich. I recommend it highly. You will not be disappointed.
