Don’t order coffee if you have to run to your plane within the next 15 minutes. If you plan a bunch of wait, the coffee will be good though

The PrairieBistro cafe was actually a surprisingly good experience! Like a corner dinner from days gone by tucked into the corner of an airport. The fried pickles and fries with my food we’re both well cooked, crispy without being soggy. Fries well spiced without going overboard. Hamburger was excellent.

I don’t use these terms lightly, I really didn’t expect much from what appears to be an airport dive, and the only place here, but it was a genuinely pleasant experience.

The setup tries perhaps to be too many things – diner, bar, and coffee location – yet as the only hot food location before security in a regional airport, it handles each of these needs competently. When flights com and go, the ebb and flow can reduce service give the staffing is pretty static, so make sure you have time when you sit down.

If there was a – star I’d use it. The girlie at The Java House needs a serious attitude adjustment or just not come to work. Very rude and moaning under her breath. NOT the customer service I expected in such an awesome facility.

The taste of the coffee is disgusting. Cedar Rapids need to either put Starbucks in this airport or something else rather than this Java House. Normal locations for Java serve coffee pretty well, although usually overly sweet. However, with no other options while waiting for a plane, I decided to get something only to be turned away by the cashier who was “restocking”. Excuse me? If a customer comes to your kiosk you should stop what you are doing to serve them, at least that’s what I was always told when working customer service.

Over $6 for a muffin and they don’t give people who work for the airport an employee discount. First time I’ve ran into that! Greedy.

Very very limited menu with about four different items. One person working there so service was really slow since she was busy in the back.

Straightforward and quick service, good coffee! I let the barista surprise me with any drink, and i was not disappointed.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Flew into Cedar Rapids and came here after my flight to order a drink. The cashier just stared blankly at me until ordered, no greeting. Once I ordered she told girl at machine what it was. She just hit a button like on a gas station machine and a poor quality latte was born to be served to me. Meanwhile the girl at the machine was also impersonal. Not a word was said to me. Then I take a drink, I threw it in the trash! In no way was this a vanilla latte! It was absolutely HORRIBLE!

Zero stars. The employee was rude. I was greeted with “what do you want”. She was annoyed that I paid with cash and was even more annoyed that she had to make me a coffee dring from the menu. I expected more from the coffee as well. Not even close to a good cup of coffee. Avoid!

If you want a great dining experience, this place is not for you. We literally entered the restaurant to the sound of a “hmph” from the waitress at 8 am. Basically was sad she had customers. We then were asking about what they had to eat and got the answer “we got some food”. They did not have chicken, did not have cheese, did not ingredients to make any single item on their menu. We waited patiently for the food (took 30 mins as the only customers in the store) and also got coffee while we waited. We asked for creamer and go figure, they did not have creamer. We were told they would get it and 20 mins later we still had not gotten it. So the waitress being innovative decided to grab a random jug of milk from the back to let us use that in place of creamer(found it hilarious how they mentioned how people need creamer on the sign in the front). Then we had to use vouchers we got from the airport and to save a long painful story, math was very hard for her. Honestly not sure why this place bothered to open. If you are in a hurry you may be lucky enough to order a piece of bread. I will say, the food was actually decent when they managed to actually send the chef running around the airport to get the ingredients to make it.
