Prairie Schooner Steak House in Ogden is absolutely worth the drive. We went on a Friday and the Prime Rib special was incredible, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I had it with the potato au gratin, and the potatoes were amazing and a perfect complement to the meal.
My wife ordered the BBQ chicken with a yam, and it looked fantastic as well. The service was great from start to finish, friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Dining in the covered wagon (schooner) tables with the prairie-themed setting is truly unique and adds to the whole experience. We enjoyed it so much that we’ve already told our family about it, and we will definitely make the 1 hour and 15 minute drive to come back again. Highly recommend!

Okay so this little gem of a Steakhouse somehow has escaped my visits for 5yrs now. I highly recommend this for a great date night or even a reception or company event. The atmosphere is amazing. That down home southern style atmosphere I grew up in up with and miss so much. The Server was great as well. The food better than I expected although be prepared to put a dent in the pocket book because this place is pricey. The cheapest steak was around $20 and the most expensive upwards of $90. There are a few dishes under $20 but not too many. Regardless the food is worthy of the price. I wanted to get more photos inside but didn’t want to invade the privacy of others eating. Also the outside but we were running late and needed to get going. I’ll try to go back and get more to add to this posting.Those canopy areas in the photos are each one a table. Quite cozy and private.

This is my most favorite place. Today Josh was our server and he was amazing, even though i made it totally awkward cause i dont eat full meals so i just order a couple of sides, and i make everything awkward. The clam chowder is the best ive ever had, and the au graten potatos are to die for. And i crave the buffalo wings weekly. The only downside to this restaurant is that it takes me over an hour to drive here. Its not close enough to my house. guess its time to move.
The atmosphere is fun, the decor is on point, if you’re a vegan this is NOT the place for you! 11/10 would reccomend to every carnivore i know.

We just didn’t have the best food. Ordered the prime rib the second one being overly cooked and the first was rubbery..The snow crab was excellent..I had a T- bone it was suppose to be medium but half of it was well done..
The manager did take off for some of the bill which was nice of her but overall experience would not me going again.

Fun experience, we stopped by for lunch.
Service: 5 stars, Nichole was our server and she did a fantastic job, our drinks were always refilled and she took care of everything we needed.
Atmosphere: 5 stars everything was great from the covered wagon tables to the taxidermied animals
Food: 4 stars my family really liked it and the portion sizes were all large. I got the onion rings as a side and really liked them.
Overall a great experience, I’m sure we’ll be back.

I tell you what the atmosphere was amazing from the outside to the inside I loved every bit of it. The service was absolutely amazing from the second I walked in the door. Jacee was a great server and took great care of me and my first time dinning experience.. the food was absolutely amazing…… Just like home cooking felt so warm and cozy in my wagon eating a meal I thought my grandma made.. my only regret is that I don’t live here.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere — it was warm, inviting, and had a great energy. The food was also very good. I ordered the salmon and sirloin steak, and both were cooked perfectly — tender, flavorful, and nicely presented.
The only downside was the service. Our server seemed pleasant but unfortunately treated our table as an afterthought. She spent quite a bit of time chatting with and attending to other tables while ours was often overlooked. We requested mushrooms for the steak that never made it to the table, and our water glasses sat empty twice before being refilled.
It also took quite a while to receive a to-go box and then again to get our check, which stretched out the visit far longer than expected. Two tables that were seated about 10 minutes after us finished their meals and left nearly 20 minutes before we did.
To be fair, if I had been at one of the other tables, I might have thought the service was excellent. The food and atmosphere were great, but the inconsistent attention made our experience feel less enjoyable than it could have been.

This was such an incredible dining experience! We had so much fun! The food tasted great! The bread was yummy. That salad was delicious. The steaks were soooooo good! Tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were cold but they brought us fresh. We went twice because it was so good. Honestly, we all miss this place and crave it. The atmosphere and dining experience is so unique and fun. If you have kids, they will love it too, it is just so fun eating in a covered wagon!

I wasn’t going to do this until I just spent the last hour in the middle of the night evacuating my internals. I’m gonna say reading the rest of these reviews maybe they went on the weekend right after a fresh meat delivery. Idk when they get it, but on Wednesday evening they were out of prime rib, so I settled for sirloin, medium rare, and a baked potato with string beans. The meat was tough, chewy and flavorless, the beans tasted okay but also tough and chewy, some of them wouldn’t break down enough to swallow. The potato was alright. Like always I brush it off and pay the bill and think maybe another day will be different. The restaurant itself was amazing to walk through and see, great experience however due to my current state I will not be going back. Not saying don’t go, just enlightening those who bother to read this far. If you do, I’m betting the steak is fresh off the meat truck by Friday and a lot better to digest.
