I typically love PB. This was my first (and last) visit to this location today Jan 19. It was freezing out so the place was not crowded. This was hands down the worst sandwich I have ever had at a potbelly.
The malr was very confused about my order, so I stood there to help with what was to he out on and what was not. Then I noticed that as he leaned over my food to grab ingredients, a dorty pin on his apron was touching the food. I said something but he kept going. I said it louder and he, still confused, said sorry, my bad. The two other (female) staff were completely disinterested.
The final product was terrible. Somehow it was only half toasted. Was the oven set too low a temp or too fast a speed? Then, the build was a mess.

Echoing the last few posts, which I should have read before choosing this location. Two workers (a male and a female, both young) and no other customers in store at the time. The female staff helped prepare my order, and the male rang me up. The experience was going as expected, until the end. I had order two kids combos, but only received the combo for one. When I pointed out the discrepancy, the male staff was already in the back and the female staff told me that “he probably didn’t include the cookie since we ran out and he would have had to take it out of the 1-dozen size bags and then we would only have 11 when it should be 12 and it’ll throw off our inventory.” I asked for an alternative, she said there wasn’t one. She asked if I still “needed” the cookie. I said that I have paid for it and didn’t receive it. She begrudgingly took the cookie out of the bag with the dozen, rudely gave it to me, and huffed her way back to the kitchen.
Love Potbelly’s, but absolutely will not be returning to this location.

Not sure what happened to this spot but it’s going downhill. I ordered two soups and was the only one in line and neither were ready by the time I checked out. They also didn’t have a tray for me and the soup just wasn’t good. What has happened to this location. Very Disappointing because Potbelly’s is great but this location needs help or a new manager. The broccoli soup wasn’t good. Cold and bad. You can do better people. I’ll go to the one down the street next time.

I give the Potbelly Sandwich Shop in downtown Des Plaines 5 stars. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I appreciate that I was able to get a hot warm sandwich to go, in a short amount of time. I ordered the “Wreck” which certainly is just like it says on the menu, a meat lover’s Paradise. I appreciate they have lots and lots of crunchy chips to choose from including the Zapp’s New Orleans style kettle potato chips. There is plenty of parking around this Potbelly’s, and it is easy to get in and out of the shop.

I’m normally a huge enjoyer of potbelly’s. However this was my first time to this location and the service is awful. Very rude staff, food took forever, then I was missing one of my sandwiches and was told I never ordered it (they eventually made it). They also made my shake vanilla when I order Oreo. Overall the staff looks like they hate their lives. It was a very uncomfortable experience.
