I just left the Potbelly location in Southfield, MI after a very disappointing experience with management. I live in the area and visit this restaurant often. When I arrived around 8:40 PM, the door was locked. A young man kindly came to the door and explained that they were backed up with orders and that he was the only person working the front, which is why the doors were locked. He also let me know they were still open.
I explained that I had just left the grocery store and only needed chili to make a chili dog for dinner. He told me it would take about 15 minutes and would be ready by 9:00 PM. However, at 9:00 PM, a manager came out from the back and rudely stated that they were closed and that there was no chili available it would take one hour to cook.
Customer experience is very important to me, and how customers are treated matters greatly. The young man who helped me demonstrated excellent customer service—I was honestly prepared to offer him a position based on how professional and kind he was. The only issue is that he lacks sales experience, but his customer service skills were outstanding.
I am only rating this location poorly due to the rudeness of the manager. The young man deserves five stars for his professionalism and attitude.
It was rusty colored, and slimy to the touch. And I’m unable to go back to get it fixed, as I only have 30 minutes between meetings. And I didn’t notice because the young lady who made it put it into a bag and I didn’t look, because normally I have never had an issue here.
But the whole small salad could not be consumed.
I’m only giving service 5* because who ever was in charge during Lunch on 6/23 was helping a new hire remake my shake when she was back on the floor, and she took the time to help him. The other stuff just looked at the new kid when he requested for help and they just told him what to do. That manager is honestly helpful when teaching new hires, which is amazing to see.
Selected the “Pick Your Pair” with a skinny/small Mediterranean sandwich on wheat & an apple walnut salad. Tons of grapes, apples, walnuts and chicken on that salad. Would prefer my salad without meat, however. Already had meat on the sandwich.
Two suggestions: One, lower the music volume. It makes it difficult to hear the staff’s questions. Two, ask if the customer wants the sandwich cut, especially with the smaller ones. Makes for a messy meal with all the stuffing falling out.
To add to my review. I placed an order today and went to pick up per time provided but they told me they never received my order, and it had been canceled. I checked my cc and it was in fact charged. Don’t know what the hell these people are doing. I wont ever go back to this location.
Walked in and got a wreck. Had shards of glass in it. Called back up to the store for them to try to tell me “we don’t have anything like that glass here” and they won’t do anything to rectify, just told us to come back Monday when the boss is in.
