Surprisingly, my favorite dishes might’ve been the empanadas and their caesar! Very simple but so good. The empanadas are served with a pineapple salsa and an avocado creme fraiche (kinda like guac) and it balances the pork/beef filing so well. The fried oysters on the caesar instead of croutons were actually amazing. The grilled prawns were good but a little too spicy for me, and I think all around the groups least favorite dish, but by no means were they bad. Grilled broccoli was also spicy but so delicious! Recommend.
The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. It comes with some sort of white sauce, I’m not sure exactly what that was, and we also tried the bearnaise. Both lacked flavor. Out of the pastas the tagliatelle was our favorite! Generous portion of lobster which I appreciated. The mafaldini was also really good, but both pastas were a little overcooked (me just being picky).
Most restaurants do not do a little dessert, much less acknowledge birthday’s or special occasions anymore, but Porzana does and we were graced with a scoop of honey ricotta and lavender ice cream. So good!!!
Our waiter Brian was fantastic when he was around, but unfortunately he wasn’t around all that much and service was really really slow. All said and done it was about a 2.5 hour service on a Monday and especially towards the end when the restaurant cleared out it was still way too slow. Great atmosphere though! Nicer restaurants also tend to skimp on the portions sizes, but that was not the case here. Great portions of everything and we left stuffed!
Food: we had the winter Panzella salad Which was recommended by the waitress in an absolute crowd pleaser. We also had the chipas Which were like fluffy cheesy little pillows. And as an added bonus, they were gluten-free so I could enjoy them at my leisure. As a sidenote, the next time we go, I will definitely be getting an extra order of these because they reheat very well the next day and are so good. We had the smashed potatoes (papas aplastadas) and carrots to share, and the food portions were plenty that we had leftovers to enjoy at home. The carrots were flavorful with just the right amount of heat. The potatoes filling and comforting. We both had the picanha cut, which came with several different toppings: my husband chose au poivre, and I chose the chimichurri, both were excellent, and the steaks were cooked to perfection. We also had a few glasses of wine recommended by our waitress, and these were excellent as well. We finished the meal with the burnt basque cheesecake which was unique and delightful. I love goat cheese so appreciated the tang that came with incorporating it.
Service: we had an excellent, waitress, well informed, thoughtful, and paced our courses well.
Ambiance: it was just a little bit loud, but I did love the vibe and the lighting in the restaurant. My only complaint was the positioning of our table against the kitchen. It was a little weird and offputting, but truly a minor point.
Overall, I definitely recommend for a wonderful evening out with delicious food And a memorable experience.
The food was delicious and full of flavor. I highly recommend the miso ribeye—it was juicy and perfectly cooked. Our second favorite dish was the sea bass; the sauce was absolutely amazing. The oysters were very fresh and not fishy at all, which everyone at our table really enjoyed.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The service was outstanding. Our server was Tasha, she was attentive without being intrusive. She was knowledgeable about the menu and her enthusiasm for the food made the experience even better.
And the food? Simply incredible!. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of layered flavors. The ingredients were clearly fresh and high quality- You can taste the care that goes into every bite. Porzana manages to combine fine dining with a genuine welcoming feel- a rare balance. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want a memorable night out, this is the place to go. We left completely impressed and already planning our next visit with our friends.
