This is definitely a hidden gem! The young chef does outstanding job cooking wonderful dishes, it’s really a heaven for your taste buds The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, just lovely ladies. Be careful with the cocktails, they are strong Definitely coming back, have to try their other dishes!

I wish I could give 10 starts because they deserve it. I have never felt so welcomed by a small established since I’ve moved to the area. I feel like I found my new favorite place to go. The menu is greatly priced and it will knock your socks off! The chef brought us tasters and my isso bucco was the BEST I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back for my birthday dinner on the 8th for the wine tasting dinner! Make a reservation and you won’t regret it. Shaunda was just amazing

Made a reservation here for a birthday dinner – and we were blown away! Very small and intimate restaurant, only had about 12 tables. The food was amazing – quality Italian apps, pasta and dessert. The risotto was incredible. If you reserve a table, it is yours for the night which I thought was a nice touch, you aren’t rushed out and get to enjoy the night. It is definitely pricey but would come back on a special occasion!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Portofino! The food was outstanding! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We tried many dishes and truly could not pick favorites as it all was delicious. The flavors were spot on, and nothing felt rushed. Hands down the best and most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back.

Portofino delivered an outstanding experience. We had been wanting to visit for a while, and it did not disappoint. The chef personally came out to check on us — a fantastic touch that showed real care. Our food was top-notch. The mussels were fresh and tender, with a sauce so good it could have been a dish by itself. The pappardelle Bolognese was rich, hearty, and easily among the best in Indianapolis. The osso buco was cooked perfectly, fall-off-the-bone tender. Our server was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. The wine list was outstanding, though we would have liked a few more options in the $35–$40 range. This isn’t a place for a quick meal — it’s true slow food meant to be savored. We can’t wait to go back.

Oh my goodness! We went to Portofino for my birthday. The restaurant is small, but beautiful! They have a small staff and don’t turn tables, so you can linger and really enjoy your experience. There are five courses and you can do all five or pick what you want to do. Chef Dan came out and spoke with us, which was a treat! Each dish that we had was better than the last. It was a splurge, but we will definitely go back!

What do you get for a parent’s birthday when they already have at least 2 of everything? You make a fond new memory. Usually my wife & I try a restaurant out before taking my parents there, but tonight was a first for all of us. I rolled the dice, prayed that it’d at least be decent, & we hit the jackpot! With a 7pm reservation we arrived & to our surprise.. we had the restaurant completely to ourselves. We had our server’s undivided attention & she did an excellent job. The chef even came out & hung with us for a bit after the meal to see that everything was to our liking. Everything about this dining experience was perfect.. I’m not sure what the next occasion will be that brings us back, but I’m sure there will be one.. & I’m already looking forward to it.

Had a small family reunion here and was impressed with quality, portion and pacing. Staff is lovely and warm. No pretense which was a relief. The chef made the rounds and is a kind man. Short ribs were memorable

As a self-proclaimed foodie, I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that serve up authentic, delicious Italian cuisine. And, folks, I’m thrilled to report that Portofino at Geist hits all the right notes!

Ambiance: 5/5

From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that screamed “Italy!” The décor was tasteful and elegant, with dim lighting, comfy booths, and a general air of sophistication. It’s the perfect spot for a date night, special occasion, or just a fancy night out with friends.

Our server was an absolute rockstar! Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, they guided us through the menu with ease, making expert recommendations and answering all our questions. They even threw in a few witty jokes and charming smiles, which only added to the overall experience.

Food: 5/5

Now, onto the main event: the food! Portofino’s menu is a love letter to Italy, with dishes that blend traditional flavors with creative twists. We opted for the 5-course tasting menu, which took us on a culinary journey through the regions of Italy. Each dish was expertly prepared, presented, and paired with wine. Standouts included the handmade pasta, the succulent seafood, and the decadent desserts.

Highlights:
– The pasta dishes were all handmade and cooked to perfection.
– The seafood was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared.
– The desserts were creative and indulgent.
– The wine pairings were spot on and added to the overall experience.

Lowlights:
– None! (Seriously, we were impressed from start to finish.)

*In Conclusion:

Portofino at Geist is a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian food, wine, and hospitality. With its warm ambiance, exceptional service, and creative, delicious cuisine, it’s a true gem in the heart of Geist. So, go ahead, treat yourself to a taste of Italy, and buon appetito!

Tips and Recommendations:
– Be sure to make a reservation, especially on weekends.
