I won’t order from Portland Kettle again. The soup was bland and the sandwich was sub par. Way too much for a bad lunch. My driver was fantastic though!

First time here. The lady behind the counter is adorably sweet. Encouraged us to sample some of the soups. The corned beef was sliced fresh and the turkey. Everything the soup, the service, the atmosphere.

Funny thing happened to me here… I walked in and said, I want soup! Under the soup of the day on the menu board said tortellini with pesto, she didn’t mention that it wasn’t a soup. She packed it up for me only to find that it was literally tortellini with pesto not soup at all. I thought it was strange she asked if I wanted a fork. Oh well, the lady was nice, I’ll have to come back and get real SOUP.

I heard great things about their Caesar salad but when I ordered the chicken with the Caesar salad they said all they had was fish which was really strange. The salad was half cabbage or cheap lettuce and the rest was loose leaf green lettuce. My friend that came with me got something else and she liked the food so I guess it all depends on what you get there. The staff there are very friendly and very nice and accommodating.

The elderly woman that was behind the register was the sweetest person and rightly recommended the gumbo which was delicious. The cornbread was a sweeter cornbread which I don’t prefer but still found it really good.

Portland Kettle is a family run small business right in the business district of downtown Portland. They serve a variety of delicious soups and sandwiches. I ordered the sandwich combo which is a half sandwich and soup of your choosing. The sandwich was delicious and savory and packed with pastrami, I was surprised it was considered a half, the chili is really good and was very filling. The only downside is that it was a bit dry as if it was sitting for a bit, but delicious nonetheless.

We walked here from our hotel because we were cold and really craving soup. The food was so good, and large portions. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was awesome and let us sample soups and gave us recommendations.
