We stopped in here on our way to PHX. GREAT choice. I had beef & cheese enchiladas & my husband had a beef burrito. Both very good!! The sopapillas are amazing!!

The Service was welcoming and excellent.. Place is decently busy for lunch but got my food quickly… I got the Navajo Taco for Lunch.. great flavor. Alittle spice but not too crazy… i would definitely recommend again…

This was definitely for the books. We ordered our food and it came out shortly. Wasn’t a huge wait time. The sizes are kinda big. We ordered the Stuffed Sopapilla w/ Green Chili, Carnitas Tacos Plate, Asada Fries, kids cheeseburger meal and for dessert we had churros & the Ice Cream Sopapilla. Side order of Sopapillas with honey. It was delicious! Our waitress was busy from rush hour so it wasn’t a big deal. She was lovely.

I have been here 3 times now. Food is good, sometimes service is a little slow, but not terrible, still able to sit down and enjoy lunch during the lunch hour and get back in time. Good little hometown, locally owned restaurant with good NM food.

We stopped here for dinner on our drive between Denver and Albuquerque and we loved it! Great green chile. We both had the smothered beef and bean burritos and also chips and salsa (tasty salsa!). We’ve lived in New Mexico for decades and have strong opinions about New Mexican cuisine and this place is legit. Great service too. We will stop here again.

First time stopping for breakfast here, and this place is definitely worth coming back to. Ordered the stuffed sopapilla smothered with green chile gravy which was delicious and the hand held breakfast burrito with steak. Food is great, service is very friendly. I will definitely be back!

My husband and I spent the night in Raton on our way to Colorado. Before we got on the road we wanted a good breakfast. After reading a lot of reviews we went to Portillos. There were not very many people in the restaurant when we got there. It was all locals. We did get a few funny looks which I thought was strange since I read many Google reviews of people eating there that were passing through. Our server was sweet. He is definitely a hard worker. My husband ordered a basic breakfast plate with eggs, sausage, and hash browns. I ordered the stuffed sopapilla with green chili gravy. The breakfast plate was nothing special but just needed some salt and pepper. My stuffed sopapilla was DELICIOUS!!! The gravy was next level! I had to force myself to stop eating!

I drove 3 hours to get some good New Mexican while in a short trip to Colorado. Boy was I disappointed. Portillo was recommended and it was the worst meal I have every had. Not the worse NM food… the worst food period. I took friends and their first impression of the restaurant was to leave due to its untidiness but we stayed and we should have left. Would not go back nor recommend.

Absolutely loved the green chili offered at this cute, little family restaurant. As close to Colorado green chili I have found outside of Colorado. Service was friendly, timely and I appreciated the servers knew the locals and addressed them by name when the customer came in the door. I highly recommend trying anything smothered with the delicious green chili.

VERY Northern NM style and we are a selective bunch…. Northern NM REPRESENT…….
Red is the NM gravy style and has that nutty spicy flavor…. Green is thick and just perfect….. Well done……. DAMN.. Can’t wait to go back.
Clean establishment. Prompt and accommodating service.
