I’ve been here 5 times. 3/5 of those times, there’s been a problem with my order.
First problem was when they gave me a Coke that just tasted like syrupy water.
Next issue is when I asked for a hot dog with only pickles, and when I got home, I discovered that I had gotten a plain hot dog. Note that it was around 8:30 PM, and there was only me and one other person in the drive-thru.
The next time I had an issue is when they didn’t even have hot dog buns. Additionally, I ordered large fries, and when I got home, I noticed that there was probably about half of the amount of fries that are normally in a large.
I’ve been to different Portillo’s locations several times, and I can’t remember ever having an issue with any of them, until this one. It’s also worth noting that the other locations I’ve been to are typically 10 times as busy as this one.
However, the food is still good if your order is correct.
Update:
Tonight at around 8:30, I asked for a jumbo hot dog pickle only, and I got what you see in the attached photo. With the amount of problems I’ve had here, I don’t think I will be giving this place any more of my money.

Its CRAZY how the average person who eats at a fast food location tries to give their own “FOOD GURU” critic review lol dude its fast food. Its a gamble…. with that being said, let’s face it. Midwest people = Love portillos. And the fact they have made a well oiled machine aka drive through building is impressive. They had orders out much quicker than the other locations near me I feel. Remember with fast food, you get what you pay for.

1st time at the new Plainfield location last night Sunday. Ordered a sausage sandwich, beef and cheddar croissant and a hot dog and OR. Sausage was raw inside. Good thing for Portillos I noticed it being raw or I could have gotten sick! Called and got an apology and they said I could come back and get a new one or they will issue credit for next visit. Since it was for our dinner I had to run back 2 miles to get new sausage sandwich. A bit of an inconvenience for sure but managed a slice of chocolate cake for their mistake and I had to ask for it! Everyone in the back seemed like chickens with their heads cut off. Got home ate sausage and not exactly done with a hint of pink still going on. Husband said his hot dog was good but his b&c croissant was on a bun not a croissant and was just OK. Well I wasn’t going back again and he ate it. A huge disappointment with my first visit. As others have stated, go to the doggie diner, Culvers or even Bueno Beef! Get your act together or this place will fold sooner than later!

My boyfriend and I waited on our order inside while there was a rush. I could tell that the team was busy but communicated well with each other. That’s impressive bcus they just opened this location!
Quita and another young lady were handing passing out orders and I loved their energy. They were sweet and attentive.

I love portillo’s and this restaurant doesn’t live up to expectations. Especially ordering on the app. Three orders over four weeks, and none were ready at the promised time. The staff has no urgency, and each time when I have asked if our order is close, they have responded with attitude. Two of the three orders were missing items, and each time you would think it’s my fault they didn’t follow the online order. And only one time were my fries crisp and hot.
I live a mile and a half away so I hope they can improve, but for now, go to Culver’s across the street, is my advice.

Don’t waste your time or money! I am usually one to leave great reviews for places, but not today. This experience was awful! My family and I were so excited to try the new Portillo’s in Plainfield because we eat at Portillo’s quite regularly and thought wow to have one so close will be awesome. No, it was the exact opposite! First, the line moved extremely slow for the very few cars that were in it. Next, we got home and even after the girl read back our correct order to us at the restaurant, it was wrong! Our two hot dogs with ketchup only were fully loaded with everything, in which my child is not going to eat. Third, all of our food was literally cold! There is no way it was even close to freshly made. It was as if all the meat (2 hot dogs and a cheeseburger) was just sitting out in the open, not even under heaters, and then was used. So strange!! My sons cheese sauce for his fries was even cold! And last but not least, the one thing that was hot (our onion rings) were burnt to a crisp! Do yourself a favor and don’t go there! And for reference we live about 5 minutes from this location.

I ordered and picked up food for the first time from the relatively new Plainfield location this evening. I should have read the reviews before I did. We ordered two chopped salads. I’ve had this salad at several different Portillo locations and really enjoy them. The salad was missing the bacon, gorgonzola cheese, and green onion. I called them and they gave me a refund. Portillo’s, Plainfield deserves better! We want this to work. Tighten it up, please

I keep hoping this Portillo’s would get better but it’s not. Tonight we ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. The burger was dry and cold, the chicken sandwich was dripping but it didn’t have tomatoes. It looked like oil (I hope to was). Honestly both were not edible.

The employees were nice which is the only positive thing I can say about my visit. I hate having to say anything negative about Portillos but this is not what we’ve come to expect from them. It was a long wait time with only 2 cars in the line. I ordered a hot dog with only ketchup & fries. Both were ice cold, barely warmed at all. The hot dog had so much ketchup on it, it felt like 1/4 cup of ketchup. I honestly feel bad leaving a negative review but this place needs to know how terrible their food is.

Today I ordered an online order, some things were forgotten but when I called the restaurant they greeted me very kindly. I went back to get my items and was treated with very kind professionalism. Honestly recommend this place, really love the way they treat customers. 10/10
