If you have not been to Portillo’s on Sterling Ave in Peoria yet then you don’t know what your missing! One mouth watering delicious meal. My favorite is their Italian beef sandwich. Lots of other great choices too.

The chopped salad was pretty good, could have used a little more chicken in it, but other than that it was good.
My fiance had the Italian beef with fries and she enjoyed it.
Her daughter had the chicken strips and fries and said they were good as well.

I haven’t been to a Portillo’s for probably over a decade. I decided to pop in for dinner last minute, and this place is just as good as I remember! Even the building is structured the same way! Talk about a nostalgia trip haha!

I was going to Home Depot Sunday evening and on my way there I got a craving for the Chicago style hotdog carts. Sadly they weren’t there cause it was Sunday. So my wife and I looked up Chicago dogs near me and Portillos came up. We were so excited and we thought this would be our new favorite place, especially being so close to our home. Firstly, the girl taking our order in the drive through was being very short and not very friendly, and when we asked for recommendations she would just shrug and it made us feel silly especially for it being our first time. Anyways, we said to ourselves we aren’t going to let that bother us; we are too excited for our Chicago dogs. Once we received our food, we pulled over in the parking lot to eat because we just couldn’t wait! When we pulled the food out the bag, we noticed we didn’t get everything cause the lady who took our order got it wrong. Then we bit into our food and not only was the meat burnt and black on the outside it was cold on the inside. The meat had no snap to it. I was really frustrated and turned off, so I went inside and got my money back. I would not recommend

I have been to this Portillo’s a few times over the last few years. The establishment is clean. Plenty of room for larger groups.
The onion rings were crisp and delicious. Chicken strips were very tender and fried just right. My husband said his Philly was good.
Now, the famous fries on the other hand. Very disappointing. Soggy and Luke warm. And they are doing something different with the strawberry shakes.
In previous years it seemed homemade. Strawberries and ice cream. This time not many strawberries and it was foamy like the fake shakes at McDonald’s. Not a fan.
Bring back the deliciousness please

The Italian Beef (slightly dipped, hot giardiniera on the side, plus sweet peppers LOL IYKYN) is always on point!
Also, don’t sleep on the char-broiled hamburger with everything! IJS

The only reason this is getting a 4/5 stars is because there were a lot of tables dirty and they also had a lot of mess in the bathroom. Toilet paper all over the floor and just a mess in there. It doesn’t make you want to eat somewhere that’s dirty.

Food was mostly mediocre at best. Decent self service to order and decent self service to pick up. Restaurant was clean, decent environment.
Ordered two big Italian beef sandwiches, burger, and the two hot dog combo.
Italian beef sandwiches were relatively dry and mostly flavorless, the soggy bun had decent flavor. Menu says a person can choose the amount of sauce on the Italian beef, we weren’t asked.
The burger patty was unseasoned, char brought an unappealing bitter taste. Our granddaughter was not interested in finishing her burger.
Hot dogs were tasty. The hot dog itself had a great flavor and the toppings and bun added the right touch to make it an enjoyable meal.
Fries tasted like they came out of a bag from Walmart or something. Fries came out hot, but were ruined by the over abundance of salt put on them by staff. Unsure why a reasonable amount wasn’t added then let salt loving customers add whatever amount they desire.
Prices were way too high, particularly considering the customer stands in line to order then migrates to the other side to stand and wait to get their order; McDonald’s/Burger King and such have better service for less cost. Counter ordering and pickup is great, when the business prices things accordingly.

I never been to a portillos that had a 1950’s atmosphere. The food was fastastic as usual. The staff was friendly. It’s a fantastic place to go for a hot dogs, fries, cheese dip, and the amazing chocolate cake shake.
