Pretty good food. It was our first time having Portillo’s. We visited on a Friday evening and although it was pretty busy the lines moved quickly. We tried the Italian Beef, Chicago style hotdog and bacon burger. The Italian Beef was just ok. It didn’t have much flavor. The hotdog was really good. The burger was huge! Make sure to get a milkshake too! The chocolate and strawberry were delicious!

We come here often and the food is good. Today was one of those days. I said seriously Portillos . My daughter ordered a broiled chicken sandwich and the chicken was literally the size of a chicken nugget. My husband went up to the register to let them know and they gave us a new sandwich. My husband and I ordered an Italian beef asked to be juicy or dipped and it was dry and there was hardly any meat in there. Honestly we didn’t go up to the registers for those we decided to just eat our sandwiches and pretend everything was ok. We’ll find a different Portillos location next time.
I can’t imagine going through the drive thru and getting home with a Chicken sandwich like this. The food isn’t cheap and we’re not asking for free food. We’re paying for this. Please do better Portillos

This location gets busy!! It was on the loud end and hard to hear. Our mission was to try the Secret menu though.

I liked the facade of the different told timey buildings on the outside. My boyfriend and I make it a thing to try different Portillo’s and see how they are decorated. Plus, we love supporting a Chicago business.

Our mission this visit was to try something off the secret menu. Their branding has been pushing a cute little Weiner dog. You press that on the kiosk and there are two items you can order – chili cheese fries and a triple decker burger. We opted for the chili cheese fries since we wanted Chicago dogs and couldn’t do a burger that tall but next time I’ll get the burger.

The chili cheese fries were good. It’s like your run of the mill chili cheese fries. It comes in its own box which is nice to make sure you don’t get your food everywhere.

We also got a polish and it had too much mustard like a lot of the mustard was on the wrapping, that’s how much it was like it couldn’t all fit on the polish and inside the bun. The Chicago dogs were good and right around of all the fixings for them. We left full either way.

This location isn’t the closest to us and doesn’t rank super high to drive all the way from home to but it’s a location I’d visit if I am close and craving Portillo’s.

First time eating a Chicago dog, wow what a combination but it works. Other than hot peppers it was delicious, even with a pickle. First time eating here also. Definitely a winner.

So, I don’t usually eat at Portillo’s but for some reason, Americans love eating at breakfast places on Sunday’s. We tried going to Buttermilk and Honey Jam, they were jam packed. Other breakfast places were a 30-45 min wait. I’m not sure what the deal is since it’s not busy on Mon-Sat.

We went to Portillo’s across the street. They have 4 kiosks that you can order from. Depending on what you order, they can make it fast. I ordered chili cheese dog, double rodeo burger, and breaded whitefish sandwich. Food overall was very mediocre. I’m not sure why Portillo’s is always busy, but the food was kind of bland. I had a better rodeo burger at Burger King, which costs less. The fish sandwich is better at McDonald’s for half the cost. Even the chili cheese dog was meh. This is 3 out of 5. There are better places in the area.

Great food and nice people. Being a southerner and visiting Chicago is an interesting social experience. The way staff’s face lights up when I asked how their day is is very fulfilling and saddening at the same time. Everyone in this restaurant is so nice once you break the ice. A little small talk get you a lot better service and a few smiles.

First visit as a tourist & I fell in LOVE with this place! Ordered the Italian beef & sausage sandwich with fries & strawberry shortcake shake & was STUFFED! That sandwich is AMAZING & I only ate half of it. Portions are great, customer service was remarkable. Place is clean, cozy & decorative. Service was quick despite the lunch rush. I’m hooked!

EDIT. Portillo’s actually immediatly reached out to me and seems like they genuinely want to make the pickup situation better for everyone at this location, so I’ve changed my rating of this location to reflect that. Big thanks to the Customer Care team for actually caring about customer service and experience, most places would not be proactive in addressing a single review out of over 4,000 of them, especially with such a high rating to begin with. And it wasn’t just copy and paste sort of correspondence either. So, thanks Portillo’s for caring about customer experience when so many places couldn’t care any less.

If you order for pick up, make sure you push through the sea of people crowding the counter where you get your food if you order at the register. Don’t be like me and wait politely at the place that says “pickups” for 10 mins only to find out you have to wait another 10 in the people pressed up against the counter like it’s first come first serve for food. And CERTAINLY don’t expect that you’re going to be able to grab your food off the pickup shelf and be in and out. It’s annoying to not be able to just grab it off a pickup shelf like pretty much EVERY other place but I get it if there’s an issue with theft. But to wait longer than people who just ordered at the register and have a MORE difficult time getting your food than just waiting for your number to be called is crazy. Because unless you want to be rude and push past people and try multiple times to get an employees attention that is flying around trying to take care of a million things at once, you might as well just order at the drive thru or register. I was hoping the first time I ordered pick up awhile ago was just a fluke, but nope, this is their “system” now. I always thought the “order online beforehand and go pick up” thing was supposed to be if you wanted to get in and out, but maybe Portillo’s thinks it’s better you always get the full Portillo’s experience. Some people have issues like autism etc where these types of situations are super overwhelming and REALLY like to avoid them whenever possible, usually pick up options at places like this are perfect but, at least not at this Portillo’s, 10x more overwhelming and uncomfortable than just going through the drive thru and that might end up being quicker.

I recently visited Portillo’s and had a fantastic experience! I ordered their French fries and the Char-boiled burger, and both were absolutely delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the burger was juicy and flavorful.

What really stood out to me was the quick and amazing service. The staff were friendly and attentive, making my visit even more enjoyable. Surprisingly, the drive-thru was much less crowded than usual, which allowed for a smooth and speedy experience.

Overall, I highly recommend Portillo’s for anyone looking for a tasty meal with excellent service. I can’t wait to go back!

Went here to try Chicago hot dogs that we had heard about. There is a kiosk to order and you can customize your hot dogs. When the orders were ready, the server had a very creative and interesting way of calling out to the customers to let them know that their order was ready. Loved her style. Took away a star because I did not like the taste of the veggie dog. Somehow many restaurants do not seem to understand that at least some vegetarians order vegetarian food because they do not like the taste of meat.
