PORTILLO’S has captured the unique tastes and textures of Chicago’s street foods. It’s an enchanting mix of Italian beef, French fried potatoes, and Chicago’s original “salad-on-a-bun” hot dog. Entering Portillo’s, your senses fill with intoxicating aromas.

Both the meat and vegan “salad-on-a- bun” hot dogs are served in a steamed poppy seed bun, and topped with a colorful mix of yellow mustard, brilliant neon green relish, sparkling white onion, red tomato slices, fiery sports peppers, a sour light-green pickle, and celery salt.

There’s even a plant-based (vegan) Chicago hot dog offering the flavor, texture, and bite of the original.

Chicago’s Italian Beef sandwich constructed of a pile of paper thin slices of rump roast slow cooked in a rich beef broth and seasoned with Italian spices (basil, thyme and oregano). It is served on a hoagie or French roll, often topped with sweet peppers or spicy giardiniera, and melted provolone. Served either “wet” (au jus spooned over) or “dipped” (after each bite, the diner briefly dunks the sandwich into beef gravy) for an authentic, messy Chicago experience

Portillo’s is large, colorful restaurant decorated with historical Chicago memorabilia. (Think political.)

Meals are ordered from the counter or on a surprisingly easy-to-use computer screen.

Everything is ADA compliant. Restrooms are at the rear of the dining area. There’s plenty of free parking.

Whether you live in the Chicago area or are just visiting, Portillo’s should be a must. Can never go wrong with the famed Chicago grill, always consistently good food in the ol’ classic vibe.

No matter what you decide to eat whether it’s a Chicago dog, Italian Beef, burger, chopped salad; Portillo’s does it right. Chicago style food is a way of life around here and Portillo’s is easily the most iconic of them all.

Always a clean dining room with plenty of dining space including outdoor seating, friendly customer service and elicious grub at still fair prices like any other location I’ve been to.

Portillo’s will always reign supreme among other Chicago style grill chains and will always remain busy. Hope for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

Portillo’s is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. The restaurant is in good condition. GM Miriam and Tracy is nice. Amazing chopped salad. Must come back. 10/10.

I couldn’t believe we didn’t have to wait in line or a long wait for our food to come out. The place is spacious, cool atmosphere, love the bus. We dine in the bus. Lol
There are plenty of seats indoor and outdoor.
I love the Chicago hotdogs, with everything on it. The cheese and chili are yummy, too. Portillo’s dogs never disappoint.

Portillo’s Deerfield is a high-velocity Infrastructure and Revenue anchor located at 700 Lake Cook Rd. This “Gold Standard” node is a logistical powerhouse for Chicago street food, operating with a relentless 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM (or later) schedule to serve the Deerfield and Northbrook sectors.

Operational Intelligence: Famous for its dual-lane drive-thru system that uses a high-throughput “human chain” to maintain peak velocity even during heavy traffic surges.

Technical Payload: Home to the “Big Three” Chicago assets: the dipped Italian Beef, the Chicago-style hot dog, and the legendary chocolate cake shake.

Infrastructure Design: Features a retro-themed interior that serves as a high-density “Experience” node, reflecting the 1960s street-vendor legacy of the brand.

I used to love Portillo’s but it just doesn’t taste the same anymore for some reason. It’s a Chicago staple and they still serve some of the best cakes, but the quality of everything seems not as good as it was before. I’ll still come if I’m super hungry and craving something late night but it used to be my go to place and my first pick for lunch/ dinner.

They just can’t get an order right. Today my fish sandwich with light tartar was drowning in tartar and I edible. My husband’s beef had three inches of just wet bread no meat. This is not the first messed up order. Don’t coming to this location.

Took 20 minutes to get 2 sandwiches and 2 fries on a dead Wednesday night. When I asked about my food, I barely got an answer. When I DID get my food, it was tossed at me without so much as a Sorry or Thank you. Got home to 40 dollars worth of cold slop. I’m sure your planned expansion is gonna be great.
