This one really shocked me. We went one night for the first time this week and it was fantastic but some slow service. We went tonight and got the prime rib and the lamb. The lamb was cooked well done the first time. The second time half was well done and half was medium. Meanwhile it had 0 seasoning and was tough. It smelled totally game as well like my hands even still reek from touching the bone. The prime rib was cold and had 0 flavor along with the potatoes. Really not the review I figured I would leave but all management had to say was “we hope you’ll give us another try” after a $200 bill for 2 people that’s really not a great answer for a restaurant to give. For the prices they have to be totally dissatisfied is disheartening. Maybe try the pasta and some drinks but pass on everything else. I’d be pretty scared to try the steak after this experience nevermind the lamb or prime rib again.

We haven’t been here in years and thought we’d give it another try. We got there right before opening which we weren’t sure what time they actually opened as the website only says open Monday through Sunday for dinner service. Since the door was locked we determined dinner service was 5 p.m. when people started driving in. We were the third group seated in the dining room at 5 p.m.. We started with the arancini’s that were pretty al dente and a little too crisp on the bottom. My husband and our guest both got caesar salads that were very sparse on the dressing. Basically lettuce with a few croutons and a dab of cheese for $12 each. At the same time we ordered our dinners. About 45 minutes to an hour later our dinners finally arrived. Not sure if the waitress didn’t put in our dinners when we ordered the appetizers but she blamed it on my husband’s chicken Toscano that she said takes longer. Now I feel we should have been told this chicken takes extra time. When the meals finally arrived we couldn’t believe the Chicken Marsalla our friend ordered. The portions were very small. It looked like an appetizer. He ordered it with a side of pasta with red sauce. My chicken piccata was good but not worth waiting that long for. My husbands Chicken Toscano was the best looking dish on the table but the mashed potato was pretty salty and chicken had few large size bones. It’s a one and done for us. For $190 this should have been a much better experience for us. Giving it a 2 star due to the food wait. Our server was good. We’re just not sure why it took so long to get your meals here. From what I’ve now heard from others, this is normal to take so long to get your meals. Now we know why there were so many people waiting to be seated. So if you go, prepare for a very long wait for your food!

Great experience every time. Food is awesome. I usually get the chicken ripieno or the filet. Always top tier. Drinks never disappoint and staff is on point! We love this little hidden gem.

Wow! We were so impressed. We usually go to Boston or Providence for dinner, but we were tired so we tired a local restaurant. My husband had the swordfish special. The swordfish was cooked just right and it was so tender and flavorful. The risotto was amazing! I had the braised beef ravioli. The homemade ravioli melted in my mouth and the braised beef was so tender! The wine sauce just added to the blend of flavors! I have never written a review, but Porticello’s deserved one!

The parking is very easy here and very easy to find. The restaurant is clean and pleasant with basic tables and chairs. They do not cramp the space at all and it’s nice because you have a little more privacy when talking to your party.
The staff were pleasant and we were seated right away and actually given a choice of tables to choose from. I was surprised since it was 5:30 on a Saturday and I would expect the place to be much busier.
We had 4 in our party and ordered 2 apps, a few drinks, and 4 entrees. We had crab cake app which was a special I believe ($?) and stuffed mushrooms ($16) I had scallops over a creamy butternut squash ($32) other entrees were Chicken Sorrento ($24), Fra Diavolo Al Scoglio ($38), Gnocchi Alla Checca ($22). We all also had a cesare salad each.
Scallops Risotto was good but there wasn’t much flavor and the risotto was overcooked and the scallops were a bit more cooked then I would expect. I did taste the Chicken Sorrento and that had a lot more flavor then my dish. The other entrees of the Fra Diavolo & Gnocchi Alla Checca were said to be delicious. The portions all around were just right as well. The appetizer I had was the crab cakes, they give you two, and I think they were on the specials menu because I can’t find it on their menu on their website. Anyways, they were ok. The stuffed mushrooms were enjoyed by others in our party but I did not try any. I must say they were very small and maybe that is all that is available now, but I feel that I usually see a little more on the plate for sruffed mushrooms appetizers. They did comment they were delicious.
The Ceasar salad I had was a little dry and needed maybe a tablespoon or two more dressing, and the plate was warm. Typically a salad plate is chilled but that is one small detail. They do have anchovies, much to my delight. A ceasar without anchovies really isn’t a ceasar.
Our party had a few mixed drinks and a few glasses of wine (8 alcoholic beverages all together). My drink was spectacular. It was a special mojito. So two thumbs up to the bar tender.
In closing we averaged about $110 per person including tip. That would not be bad for a well executed upscale menu, which is what it is perceived to be from their website and menu prices. It does fall short of achieveing that goal but this was my only time there. I would go back because they have a lot of interesting items on the menu and maybe I just picked the wrong ones that night.

Dollar oysters on Tuesdays 5-7pm. Drinks and meals were delicious. A little pricey, but high quality so it’s worth it if you ask me. @amp_eats (instagram and Facebook)

Ok, not great.
Small stuffed mushrooms for the price.
Caeser salad served on warm plates.
Good sauce on the chicken picatta, as well as the Veal saltamboca but the Veal itself was tough and portion was not big at all for the $$
Waitress was wonderful.

Nice atmosphere. Mature crowd. Food was nice. Only complaint…the grilled octopus: had a dirty grill taste and was charred.

Outstanding Takeout Experience. We live 15 min. away from the restaurant so takeout can be iffy but each dish was perfection when we got home. We ordered the twin steamed lobster special – so fresh and so sweet and came with drawn butter and lemon wedges. We also had the chicken parm, a mediterranean salad, and the linguine vongole replacing the linquini with gluten-free penne for me. All was perfectly prepared and tasty. Serious summer eats!
