This place was wonderful! Spendy, but wonderful. The food was amazing, the drinks were on point, and the waitress was perfect at her job (leaving us alone enough but checking in when appropriate). We enjoyed an anniversary dinner and didn’t regret it one bit. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a special occasion spot.

Immediately upon entering the courtyard we were transported to a magical place. The lovely Wisteria overhead was so fragrant. As we meandered into the restaurant, we all relished the ambiance. The staff is so welcoming and pay so much attention to detail. The menu is amazing and everything that was ordered proved to be amazing as well. Thank you Porters for such a wonderful and memorable experience!

Great entrées! Shrimp scampi was cooked to perfection and overall not to heavy. Chicken marsala had eye popping flavors and everything blended together. Portion sizes on the starters seemed a bit light but entrée sizes were good . Thank you for the overall experience we will be recommending to friends and family.

We actually tried two other places first, but they both had extended waiting periods (1 – 2 hrs) before we would be seated. Porter’s seated us immediately. We were quickly greeted and offered beverages. Drinks, food, and service were very good. We did not expect to get a Veteran’s Day discount, but our server (another Navy veteran) asked when she was settling the bill. I ate 3 appetisers and they took each of those off the bill! That was an extremely pleasant and wonderful surprise.

Rather than being asked if we had a preference of patio or indoor, booth or table, we were just seated next to a kitchen entrance and a party of 9 people who were in jeans and trucker hats.

The complimentary bread was cold and chewy.

The beet “salad” for $15 was essentially 4 uneven, thinly sliced pieces of beets topped with some garnish.

The mains came out alarmingly fast. Under 10 minutes for entrees that included a tomahawk steak.

My wife’s ribeye was cooked absolultely perfect and we both agreed that it was delicious.

The tomahawk has an impressive presence on the plate but quickly fell short of expectations. It is removed from the bone and sliced before being brought to the table (presumably, for practicality) and the pieces were very unevenly cut.

As far as taste, it was so salty that I stopped after 2 slices and moved over to the creamed spinach, which had the same issue.

Our server was very understanding and polite about my issue with the tomahawk and offered to take it off the bill. Shortly after, a manager came by to check on us and was equally accommodating.

We finished the evening by sharing a Creme Brulee which was very good but seemed like it was missing something subtle.

I plan on returning and trying this place again some time in the spring. Given that my wife and I visited on our wedding anniversary and due to the reputation of this establishment, I had incredibly high expectations of this place. I feel as though my experience this evening may not be an accurate representation of what most diners will experience.

Porter’s Restaurant in Medford is indeed a dining experience worth exploring. While it might lean towards the pricier side, the overall ambiance and quality of the food justify the cost.

The restaurant exudes a sense of sophistication, making it a perfect choice for a special occasion or a memorable night out. The fact that it’s housed in the old train station adds an authentic and historical touch to the dining experience.

One of the standout features of Porter’s is its friendly staff who go out of their way to ensure that patrons have an enjoyable visit. Their warm hospitality contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.

And let’s not forget the food – described as delicious – which is a crucial factor in any dining establishment. Porter’s delivers on this front, making it a culinary destination in its own right.

In summary, Porter’s Restaurant in Medford offers a fancy, slightly pricey dining experience with an authentic and historical backdrop. The combination of friendly staff and delicious cuisine makes it a place worth visiting, especially for those seeking an upscale and memorable dining experience.

Porters always delivers when in need of a special occasion meal. Tonight we had the Korean fried chicken, halibut and ribeye to celebrate a birthday and every item was delicious. The service is phenomenal and we were seated in a train booth, as requested on our reservation 🙂 we will certainly be back soon!

Fun with all the history of the train station and the ticket counter bar. Great service, letting us know large party in ahead of us and then food came faster than expected. Love the train depot atmosphere and great cocktails!

We decided to come here for our anniversary this year. We made a reservation ahead of time given the reviews and how popular this place seemed. We showed up and it took a minute to figure out who would seat us but once we were in the bar the only options were 4 round high top tables or sit outside behind the back of the kitchen swinging doors. If that’s what a reservation gets you I highly recommend you be specific and request to not sit in the bar. We asked if we could sit in the main part of the restaurant and they were able to accommodate.

We decided to order the popular Parmesan halibut and Surf And Turf special. When we got our food it was very clear the steak was incredibly undercooked for medium. It was close to rare/med rare on one side of the steak and then perfectly medium on the other. The parm halibut left everything to be desired, no flavor in the lemon caper sauce, hard as a rock potatoes. We had to wait almost 10 min before our server even came back to check in on us. She took back the steak and it came back a few minutes later no better than before, one side cooked to medium and the other med/well to well. It was the most inconsistent steak we had ever ordered. The manager came over and apologized for the steak and took it off the ticket, we still ended up leaving with a $60 dollar tab and an overall dissatisfying food and service experience.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME and go somewhere else!
