The complimentary bread was cold and chewy.
The beet “salad” for $15 was essentially 4 uneven, thinly sliced pieces of beets topped with some garnish.
The mains came out alarmingly fast. Under 10 minutes for entrees that included a tomahawk steak.
My wife’s ribeye was cooked absolultely perfect and we both agreed that it was delicious.
The tomahawk has an impressive presence on the plate but quickly fell short of expectations. It is removed from the bone and sliced before being brought to the table (presumably, for practicality) and the pieces were very unevenly cut.
As far as taste, it was so salty that I stopped after 2 slices and moved over to the creamed spinach, which had the same issue.
Our server was very understanding and polite about my issue with the tomahawk and offered to take it off the bill. Shortly after, a manager came by to check on us and was equally accommodating.
We finished the evening by sharing a Creme Brulee which was very good but seemed like it was missing something subtle.
I plan on returning and trying this place again some time in the spring. Given that my wife and I visited on our wedding anniversary and due to the reputation of this establishment, I had incredibly high expectations of this place. I feel as though my experience this evening may not be an accurate representation of what most diners will experience.
The restaurant exudes a sense of sophistication, making it a perfect choice for a special occasion or a memorable night out. The fact that it’s housed in the old train station adds an authentic and historical touch to the dining experience.
One of the standout features of Porter’s is its friendly staff who go out of their way to ensure that patrons have an enjoyable visit. Their warm hospitality contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.
And let’s not forget the food – described as delicious – which is a crucial factor in any dining establishment. Porter’s delivers on this front, making it a culinary destination in its own right.
In summary, Porter’s Restaurant in Medford offers a fancy, slightly pricey dining experience with an authentic and historical backdrop. The combination of friendly staff and delicious cuisine makes it a place worth visiting, especially for those seeking an upscale and memorable dining experience.
We decided to order the popular Parmesan halibut and Surf And Turf special. When we got our food it was very clear the steak was incredibly undercooked for medium. It was close to rare/med rare on one side of the steak and then perfectly medium on the other. The parm halibut left everything to be desired, no flavor in the lemon caper sauce, hard as a rock potatoes. We had to wait almost 10 min before our server even came back to check in on us. She took back the steak and it came back a few minutes later no better than before, one side cooked to medium and the other med/well to well. It was the most inconsistent steak we had ever ordered. The manager came over and apologized for the steak and took it off the ticket, we still ended up leaving with a $60 dollar tab and an overall dissatisfying food and service experience.
