Went for restaurant week and had such a cozy dinner here, honestly felt like I was eating in someone’s living room. Tried my first Risotto and I loved it & the garlic bread is *truly* garlic bread. Angolotti was great as well

After dining at Porcini last night for the third time in a year, I can safely say it’s the best restaurant I’ve been to in this city. The staff remembered my boyfriend and I from coming in nearly a year ago; and were so welcoming and friendly. It’s such an intimate family style restaurant and my friend described it as “feeling like we’re dining in someone’s home”. The food is handedly the best Italian I’ve ever had- with fresh flavors, amazing seafood, and wonderful presentation. We will be back!!

I was able to score a same day rez at this tiny Italian BYOB we discovered well over 20 years ago & that we liked very much at the time, yet somehow had never gone back —perhaps we’d been too eager to explore new places.

Every table in the small room was occupied, which we took for a good sign. We shouldn’t have.

The bread basket was accompanied by a little dipping jar with ricotta marinated in olive oil with garlic and herbs, which was a nice touch. We split the garlicky, buttery mussels — probz the highlight of the meal, as well as a highly unremarkable Caesar with ‘homemade’ dressing that was barely there.

As for the pasta, I ordered the fresh linguine with imported porcini jus (sic!) and cream*, figuring it had to be the star of the menu, being the namesake of the place and all, and my dining companion got the rigatoni with sweet sausage and rustic tomato sauce.

Perhaps the phrasing / description of my pasta dish should’ve already given me pause, bc what arrived was a tangle of about ½ pound of linguine drowning in a watery ‘sauce’ with barely detectable porcini flavor. Adding insult to injury, there wasn’t a SINGLE porcini mushroom — just regular ole button mushrooms (about 4-5 pieces), yet the place has the audacity to charge a whopping $30 for the plate

My partner’s rigatoni were just alright. He was hungry. The best part of the meal was the Josh rosé we brought. Meh.

I wish I’d read all the negative reviews here on the place, most of which are countered by the owner in a highly unprofessional manner. Looking forward to his comments on mine

*On their takeout/delivery page, the same dish is described as “fresh pasta, imported porcini mushrooms, and jus cream sauce.”

Lies. 1/10. Best to skip this one.

I enjoy eating so much, I forget even to take some other photos! The food was great, very home style and well done! I love it a lot, you can also bring your own drink, and service was great. The place is a little bit too tight, but that’s was okay for me, maybe for some people it is an issue but they have seat for two people outside.

A small, classic Italian place with about six tables and a very family feel. It’s BYOB, so make sure you bring something (I ran a few blocks to a wine and liquor store—not a terrible trek and totally worth it). The filet bites were great, the bread was great, and the bolognese was amazing with the handmade pasta.

The staff was super friendly and outgoing, which made it a lot of fun. Well worth it.

They were very accommodating with our 10-month-old daughter and even brought her strawberries for dessert! Also, the Italian pastry dessert is delicious.

Wow. Incredible. Fantastic atmosphere. The owner David was one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. Feels like a home cooked meal your grandmother would make for you. Everything was exceptional. It is a mistake to not get the Milla Folia for dessert. It was sensational. My girlfriend said she would leave me for that it was so Good. I don’t blame her

One of the best italian BYOBs in the city. The foods amazing, David’s amazing. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes… or the desserts, so we got 3:) came here for my husband’s birthday dinner and we both had a blast. This place has a way of being intimate but also feeling like you’re going home to your nonnas house for Sunday dinner.

Visited the BYOB Porcini for a 2024 valentine’s day dinner. For sure had a solid time, and I think the average rating on Google nails this restaurant at around 4-4.3 stars. From the service, to decor, to food, everything was good and fun, but not especially remarkable or stand out (frankly more salt may be needed in all dishes.) Likely wouldn’t come back unless friends wanted to try it out.
