The Good; THE PIZZA WAS FANTASTIC! Super tasty, super cheesy, super crispy edges, 5 outa 5.
The not so good; It’s like a fast food place. You wait in line to order, pay, seat yourself. We’re not a fan of this concept which restaurants are going to more & more. We’ll be back cause the pizza is sooo gooood.
I love the regular menu here and have had plenty of pizza and pasta in the past but I’ve got to say I LOVE Brasserie’s French onion soup. So you tell me they mash the pizza with French onion and I have to get in the car!
It was definitely a good choice too!
The flavors came together incredibly well with the crispy edges of the crust replacing crutons and the beef stock and carmelized onions and cheese doing there thing on top of that crust!
Now, let me point out something I think is obvious. The service and atmosphere at Porano is not at the level of Brasserie, but rating it for what it is, it gets all the points. I used the kiosk as the team was busily making deliciousness in the kitchen. I sat down and after they made my pizza, they brought it out. Sometimes they call your name/number to get your lunch to you but they weren’t real busy while I was there.
There is a foosball table if you want to take a crack at it. Others were working, visiting with friends, etc. Nice clean, casual dining with fantastic flavors.
We ordered the Alfredo, and then made our own with the vodka sauce and meatballs. Both were fresh and really good. The service was awesome, and super friendly. Will definitely be back.
Kids eat free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Staff interaction was minimal, but everyone seemed to be in a good mood and I was told if I needed help with the DIY ordering to just let them know.
I went to a pasta place and ordered something else.
Came here for dinner with a group of friends after we did Escape the Room for International Supper Club.
Thanks to the Yelpers who posted pictures of their food on previous visits I knew that they made pizzas too. I’m a big fan of pizza. I can take or leave pasta. I’m glad I opted for the pizza even though it seemed to be on some sort of hidden menu…as in not posted on the menu board, not on their website and you have to ask about it. When you do, they hand you a sheet that lists the different varieties they can make. I went for the spicy sausage pizza and Juan got the meatball and we planned to split them.
Spicy sausage is a real treat! It’s Detroit style so the crust is thicker. They sprinkle the cheese all the way out to the edge such that some of it spills over while baking and becomes crusty. I loved those crispy, crunchy, cheesy morsels! I also really enjoyed the fact that the spicy sausage pizza actually had enough heat to it that I felt no compulsion to add red pepper flakes.
The meatball was good also but the spicy sausage is the one I’ll crave. I really can’t think of anywhere in STL serving a similar pizza.
We highly recommend this restaurant.
The music was a little loud, at first, but it was turned down a few minutes into lunch.
