As for the food and supper club vibe / all done well. The relish tray could be a bit more generous – a few thin breadsticks, tiny scoops of cheese. The bean salad (not my favorite) was the only thing plentiful.
The salads and soup were good. We had a variety of dishes on the table including ribs, prime rib, rack of lamb, pork schnitzel. Everyone said they liked their main course.
The desserts were enjoyed as well, especially beignets. Prices were reasonable.
We will go back but just have appropriate expectations on timing.
The ONLY negative thing I will say is I feel that for parties of 6 or more they should take reservations so big groups aren’t congregated around the bar.
Here are a few hits and misses:
Hits
-Greeted and welcomed at front door.
-Beautiful interior with classy Supper Club vibes.
-Complementary breadsticks and relish tray.
-Baked French Onion Soup was fantastic!
-I assume it was the owner (Pop’s?) walking around greeting guests . More places need to do this!!
-The Pop’s Cabernet was delicious!
-I love the branding on the plates!
Misses
-Ordered table side Old Fashioneds, received two regular ones instead.
– Old Fashioneds were somewhat lacking. Not enough bitters, watered down in ways.
-Broasted Chicken & potato wedges were bland, check your seasonings chefs!
-Server never stopped by to ask how everything was going. Though she was kind and courteous.
-By 4:45 place was packed and extremely loud inside. I didn’t mind, but be prepared if taking older folks here.
-Dining area needs a table or two removed. I noticed many times folks had to go around other tables to get through, even wait staff. My chair was nearly butted up to chair behind me. If possible, ask for a booth.
-Though my open face steak sandwich was delicious, it could have used something else. A few mushrooms caps, or arugula, or some horseradish sauce.
All in all, with a restaurant packed one hour into service, I feel a few things need to be buttoned up, or maybe it was just an off nite, I would like to return though.
We would go back, or try one of their other restaurants for that matter.
My filet was not the best I had ever had, and the cut was a little weird but I couldn’t really complain. It had great flavor. Just took a bit of knife work. The. Mashed potatoes were great. The bacon deviled eggs were a table pleaser. French onion soup was 8/10. Our server was fantastic and the cherry on top. Service was great.
Stephanie was our server & we did the table side Brandi old fashioned she was awesome!
Relaxed, accommodating & fun.
The food we had was definitely elevated comfort food, worth every penny! Pops cabbage rolls were absolutely the best I have ever eaten, the crab cake is in my top three & the chicken cordon bleu was great & the sauce was a classic with just a touch of Dijon, super elevated good but not bougie.
This place felt so new & modern but had a great comfort to it. I am a life long chef & restauranteur & I find most dining experiences extremely disappointing. The khayat group definitely sets the benchmark every time they open & Pops absolutely crushed it, love the old school food that reinvented with quality & experience, thanks for a great date night!
Service was top-tier. Bradley and the entire team crushed it attentive, dialed-in, and made the night feel smooth and effortless. The chopped sirloin was spot-on, packed with flavor, and the sides + servings were legit generous. Everything came out looking clean and plated like they actually care (rare these days), and the whole meal brought me back in the best way. Pops is doing something special here. Keep it up and Send It!
