It’s been a while since I’ve been to Pop’s Place used to be one of our regular spots before life got busy and we started traveling more. I stopped back in and ordered the fish fry special, and it was every bit as good as I remembered. The tartar sauce tasted homemade, the fries were perfectly done crispy on the outside, soft inside, and seasoned just right (not too salty or greasy).
Still the best fried fish in Kingsport, hands down. If you haven’t been, you should definitely give it a try. It’s one of those local spots that just feels like home every time you go.

Was passing through and wanted catfish. This place popped up on the maps.
It’s in the back of a BP station and the sign is not very big. Google maps kept saying to take a U turn, But really we just needed to cut across the 4 lane. It sneaks up on you.
We came kinda late. 45 minutes before closing. But no problems. We sat ourselves but the server was right there with menus. Very helpful and pleasant.
We order the fried pickles and Cajun catfish dinner. No turnip greens, so I ordered the green beans and macaroni and cheese. R got fried okra and fries.
Dinner came out before the pickles. I guess they forgot. But when they did come out the pickles were HOT and fresh and have a very delicious flavor. Chips not spears the way we like it.
The fish was delicious. I was skeptical at first because it looked dark but we ordered the Cajun.. so while it looked dark it was not burnt and it did not taste like old oil. The pickles were golden so I think it’s just the batter. And it was HOT temperature, and tasty. We highly recommend.
The fries were not as hot as the fish and could have been cooked a little longer. R said the okra was ok. Average.
The green beans and mac and cheese both were ok. I think they both needed a little bit more flavor. Not bad, but I’ve had better. Was wishing I would have gone with coleslaw.
All in all it was a good visit. We do recommend the catfish.

One of favorite places to eat. The waitresses are always welcoming and so friendly. You will leave with a friend for life with these women. I would recommend every one try it. Prices are great not over the top and overall it’s a great experience.

I ordered grilled chicken livers with onions and they were so delicious! But the star of the show was the BUTTERSCOTCH PIE! It was real and not that weird orange thing you get other places. I don’t think I’ve ever even had a homemade butterscotch pie before. So many things were homemade and so good! Regina and everyone else was super nice, too!

A very good experience. We came here on the recommendation of a friend and it is a gem in the rough. Remove your predisposition about restaurants attached to gas stations as this is nothing like that sketchy fair. Think comfort food where everything is smothered in gravy and serving sizes are more than generous. I tried the fried chicken livers and they were well cooked and very crispy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good but the mac and cheese was runny and kind of lackluster. Our waitress was very kind and attentive throughout the meal. Cost was a touch higher than the average but I think that the portion sizes make up for the difference soo I will not deduct any points on this front.

What a wonderful place!! The best breakfast! Food was cooked perfectly. I asked for my bacon chewy…and they delivered!! Staff was so friendly and attentive! Thank you to the person working so hard to clean the tables so people could sit down quicker! If you want a great little breakfast place THIS IS IT!!
