DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! We went to place a to go order; no employee at front for several minutes. Placed 2 orders of 2 meat platter. We chose ribs and chicken; told 15 to 20 minutes. After almost 40 minutes was told they were out of chicken. Instead of asking what replacement we wanted, they just gave us double ribs. We were staying 3 minutes up the road. When we got home we discovered the onion rings were burnt, the ribs were like leather, the fries were not cooked, the Mac n cheese was wet and unflavorful, and the beans were very watery. Gross. Very unpleased with this place. Save yourself the disappointment; and make the drive to HAYWOOD SMOKEHOUSE.

Pretty setting on the creek.
Table was sticky.
Best item we had were the collars. Served in a small side dish bowl. Delicious, but wish they had drained the water from the bowl before serving.
Side dishes served in small bowls.
If ordered a la carte are $6 each. We ordered cole slaw which was nothing more than chopped cabbage. Maybe they have a sugar, mayo, vinegar shortage in Maggie Valley.
Brisket sandwich with one side is $16. It was OK.
I ordered a 2 meat dinner for $24. My choices were ribs and burnt ends. I was served 2 ribs and a side dish bowl of burnt ribs. Came with 2 sides and toast. Beans were good, as were the collars.
Summary: just another bbq place that thinks their food is so precious, that they serve very little of it at high prices.
Keep driving, the casino, which has crazy prices, has better value food than Pop’s.

The food ranged from ok to amazing, smoked chicken and mac & cheese being my 2 favorites, hush puppies my least, and I still don’t really know what to make of the fried corn on the cob. The wait staff were all friendly. There’s no getting around the fact that service was extremely slow but we reminded ourselves that we came to Maggie Valley to get away from our frenetic daily lives and some slowness was just part of the experience.

The BBQ ranged from okay to great. We especially liked the burnt ends. The long wait time for service didn’t bother us, but most of our plates were served with cold or lukewarm meat.
Our experience with the mixed drink specials was … interesting. The bourbon lemonades were just expensive lemonades and their old fashioned was made with fireball.

I had the brisket dinner with mac & cheese and baked beans. Brisket was very fatty, beans must have been vinegar based because they were bitter and tasted pretty bad. I did not care for the macaroni & cheese, there was something in there that just seemed off. My partner had the pulled pork sandwich and it was fatty too.
Photos look decent

Excellent waitress and staff. Took awhile to get the food after ordering. This is not a fast food place though. You get what you pay for. Very tasty bbq. The slaw was good but not quite to my taste. Mac and cheese was like baked fresh, very good. Nice seating area to enjoy your meal overlooking the creek. The parking lot needs work. If you are a biker, beware of the huge potholes in the entrance west side. Gravel lot as well.

Great BBQ and sides. Haven’t been here in a few years and we were not disappointed! Brisket sandwich was great! Brisket beans and fried okra in nice portions. Darlene had Pops Smokestack and collard. Sides to not miss: fried corn, Brisket beans and collards. Okra was very good too.

So what’s going on folks here we go again about three or four weeks ago me and my wife ventured to Pops butts on the creek in Maggie Valley North Carolina wow that was nice. That was a really nice refreshing meal to actually get some decent barbecue. I lived in Florida for quite a while and did my own barbecue and I was also on a cook team and a competition team and I haven’t found good barbecue in Tennessee or the Carolinas that really satisfies us until we went to Pops. We ordered the half chicken moist tender, seasoned just right it had a seasoning that I can’t place, but it was very, very good and all the sides were good. Our waitress was wonderful. She was Johnny on the spot with everything and we weren’t held hostage trying to leave And pay our bill. The beans were great everything everything was wonderful. I give it five stars we will be back we tried to get in a month earlier and they were full so you have to get there early or later in the evening. We went later in the evening and sit out on the porch and watch the river and just had a nice conversation, but we will definitely be back. Everything was spot on.

The view was amazing of the creek behind the restaurant. Parker can be challenging, but the food was on point.
