Went the day after they opened and had to try everything I could. 20 Miles of Railroad platter came with 3 meats + ribs. Brisket, turkey, brisket burnt ends, and pork ribs were all amazing.
Absolutely crushing it for their 2nd day being opened. Open from 11am until they run out!

Friendly staff and good portions! We are so happy to have a place for brisket and burnt ends. The sauces and unique and delicious, the smoke ring on the brisket is perfect, and my husband has already requested to go back for his birthday after Christmas! Great work!

I’m not one to write reviews but Poppy’s more than merits one. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to operate a restaurant during the pandemic, let alone open one. The brisket was done to perfection and the smoke ring was on point. The burnt ends stole the show and were as tender and delicious as I’ve ever had. The bbq was great, with a sweet-n-smokey balance paired with that Eastern NC vinegar tang we all love and enjoy. The fries were seasoned and crispy. Their sauces are unique and compliment the meats well. The service was great and left nothing to be desired. So happy to have a well rounded bbq restaurant in the area offering more than just the traditional whole hog our area is known for and already inundated with. We will definitely make this place a staple for our family and guests when they visit.

The food is excellent! One of the best briskets we’ve had from a restaurant. The squash and onions was stewed, so more of a thick soup. The sweet potato fries were nothing special. When we arrived at 6 they were already running out of food. So get there early. They do a lot of take out and were busy. The kitchen was understaff for the volume of business. We waited for about an hour to get our food. A family that ordered after us got their food before us. It was disappointing service.

I ordered the brisket mac and cheese. The mac and cheese part was lacking flavor, the brisket was okay. My husband thought it tasted like plastic. He ordered the burnt ends which he enjoyed..I tried those and they were good. We may go back and try the sampler, will do another review.

I consider my self well informed when it comes to BBQ and smoked meats. While this is not ENC style BBQ it is excellent. In Tampa we have a cavalcade of smoked meat eateries. This is up there with the best. Only had the brisket so far and it was thick moist slices. Will have it again and again.

Staff was friendly, service was super fast and reasonably priced.
Pulled pork is top notch
Burnt ends was very OK
Mac and Cheese is best in town no questions asked
Collards were seasoned with sand.
The sauce that comes with the meal tastes like ketchup.
I will be back soon to try some more stuff but I’m gonna need y’all to wash those collards and do something about the sauce

I have been twice now and it was very good both times. Not very many places have brisket in this area. I had brisket and smoked sausage. I will definitely be back and try out some other items.
Wish they had boudin but that is more prevalent in south louisiana and Texas.

This place is great. The staff are really nice and the food is amazing. They have smoked brisket, beef ribs, chicken and so much more. The smoked brisket was on point and I most definitely can’t wait to go back for more.
