Stopped in for a sandwich. The staff is friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious. My wife got a Pop’s Italian sandwich, and I had a Grown up Grilled Cheese sandwich. Great local spot that should be your local go-to restaurant list for a quick bite. Lots of daily fresh made baked goods as well.

Poppy’s Place is a wonderful little cafe with fresh and healthy food options. We showed up with a party of 8 around lunchtime on a Saturday and they were able to handle our large party’s order, had seating for all of us, and managed to bring our food out all at the same time (even though we ordered at 3 separate families).
For food, I picked the Seasoned Chicken Salad… Only to be told that they were out of chicken. Seemed odd to be out of chicken on a Saturday lunch situation, but no biggie, I asked for egg salad instead. But when my salad arrived, it was with hard boiled eggs instead of egg salad. No biggie with that either, the salad was delicious, fresh, and tasty (even with it being not what I expected). Just a really good arrangement of healthy crisp ingredients. My wife ordered one of the panini specials off the board and we were warned that it might take a while because they could only make 2 at a time and several people ordered paninis in front of us. Our expectations in that were far exceeded because all the food came out together and in good time and the wife enjoyed her panini. Our pescatarian teenager tied ordering tuna salad. Like the chicken salad, they were out of tuna as well, so our kid got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which was big but our kid didn’t eat much. Sounded like the ratio of PB and J was off a bit, but our kid raved about the bread.
Other people in our group had similar challenges with ordering, and we figured out that 1pm on a Saturday must be towards the end of service for the day. So just be aware of that if you go towards the end of lunch rush. Being out of chicken salad and tuna salad and some other things at 1pm on a Saturday just means more planning is required of the staff. Other than that service snafu, we very much appreciated being told up front about what was out of stock and what would take extra time. Stuff happens, we get it! It’s the communication and honesty that sets a place like this over others.
As for the atmosphere, it’s a small place with one big family style counter (with a big pole in the middle, unfortunately) and several smaller tables. They could get more space by moving the plasticware and condiments away and put another table or two there, and they would remove some of the things that remove from the atmosphere. The ambiance is fine, but nothing too special and it feels like getting food to go and eating somewhere else would be a better option.
Poppy’s Place is a great gem of a restaurant in a cool little town. If you’re looking for great food that makes you feel good to eat, you will love this place like we did! Poppy’s Place is highly recommended!

Gem in Front Royal! Great food – love the grilled sandwiches, nourish bowls, breakfast burritos. Creative non-alcoholic beverages. Superb, friendly customer service. Poppy’s Place also invests in the local community needs through their Giving Board. This establishment reminds me of a special treasure found in a college town. A must visit!

Stopped on a road trip and honestly this was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. And these are HANDS DOWN the absolute best homemade biscuits I’ve ever had. With no hyperbole, they are life changing. I don’t know what kind of magic the kitchen is doing back there, but i legitimately might make the drive from many states away for a taste of those biscuits again one day! Excellent and friendly service, too. Clean bathroom and I appreciate the extra amenities like emergency period products, if needed. Just all around great place!

Driving through Front Royal, we definitely did not want to stop for fast food. So glad we found Poppy’s! The food was yummy, generous, and reasonably priced. The staff was kind, patient, helpful and joyful. This will definitely be our stopping point every time we’re in the area. If they have them when you visit, try the root beer float cookie. I don’t know how they did it, but it tasted just like a float!! Mmmm good!
