First time here and was not disappointed! My husband got the Crazi Daddy Fries and he loved them, he picked mild for his chicken and he said there wasn’t much heat. I wanted a side of fries but instead ate some of his naked ones and they were amazing! You have to get a side of fries. We got the fried pickles and my only complaint was there didn’t taste very pickley, all we tasted was batter. I got the Sando and it was a BIG sandwich! But very good and loved the batter. I got it in lil mild and there was zero heat so next time we visit we’re both try the medium. We will definitely be back!

Honestly just delicious chicken. The sandwich is a bit too thick for my taste (a personal skill issue), but I got the crazy daddy fries and they were phenomenal. Really tasty sauce and cole slaw! I get the slaw on the side so I can reheat more easily

I got the Big Kids Meal and boy was it B I G. I got 2 Dino sized tenders covered in mild sauce with the best fries. They are crispy and well seasoned. I got the mild to temper the waters and it has a beautiful smokey kick. I’m such a ranch girl but theirs was more dill than ranch which I didn’t care for. However, the comeback sauce quickly made up my initial disappointment. I ate this box for 3 days cutting each in half. I made a small salad beyond the airfreight reheat. Definitely worth the money!

I dove into the Crazy Daddy Fries, a loaded masterpiece piled high with chopped tenders, comeback sauce, slaw, and pickles. Every bite was a riot of flavor — crispy, juicy chicken seasoned to perfection, balanced by tangy, sweet slaw and the addictive punch of comeback sauce. Fun fact: comeback sauce is named “comeback” sauce because it will have you coming back for more.
My wife’s Sando, their signature chicken sandwich, was no less impressive: a towering creation with the same sauce-and-slaw magic, served alongside PERFECT fries. None of that soggy, undercooked/undersalted nonsense from most other restaurants. Portions here aren’t just generous; they’re downright gigantic, as well – the kind that make you grin when the plate hits the table. I mean, the chicken on the sando was quite literally the size of a BRICK. We both got “wimpy” heat levels, because we didn’t want the spice level to outshine the flavor.
The atmosphere only amplifies the experience. Optimist Hall’s modern, hip setting — a remodeled industrial space filled with specialty eateries, light music, and a lively crowd — makes Poppycox feel like the beating heart of the food hall. The aroma alone could lure food lovers from miles away, but it’s the execution that seals the deal.
Absolutely no issues with service either. Everyone was polite, smiling, quick, and respectful!
Simply put: all other chicken restaurants, you better sit up, pay attention, and take notes. These guys at Poppycox are mopping the floor with you, because this is how fried chicken SHOULD TASTE AND BE CONSUMED!
We’re definitely coming back, and recommending everyone we know that passes through Charlotte to stop in!

Best chicken tenders I’ve EVER had! Perfectly seasoned…spiced just right with a hint of sweetness. The crispy crust was delicious! We ate at the Optimist Hall location. Highly recommend!

They use clone meat. Food was seasoned well and fries are fried perfectly. Visited the location in optimist hall and was surprised by how large the portions were. After taking a bite of the big kids meal chicken strips, something was off about the texture. It felt almost undercooked but it was actually fully cooked. My bite broke the meat cleanly unlike I’m used to chicken behaving. The breading was well seasoned however the chicken didn’t taste like anything at all. I conclude they are using clone meat or some other GMO. The meat isn’t porous enough to marinate seasoning into the fillet, breaks cleanly, and is unusually large.
Fries were amazing and the breading and comeback sauce flavor is top notch.

This is annoyingly fantastic, as always! First time at the store location but damn it is just as good as at the truck! If you want the best damn chicken sandwich you have ever had, well you found it!
Had the chicken sandwich and fries and my mouth is watering it’s so good!

Every single time I order Poppycox, I swear I’m going to take a photo—and every single time, the food disappears before I can even open my camera. The service is flawless. The food is dangerously good. The fries are so crispy they should be illegal, and the chicken tendies are my emotional support meal. Be warned: the “mild” has a real kick, but it’s the kind you gladly suffer for. And the Crazi Daddy Fries? I cried. Actual tears. No regrets. No notes. Just perfection.

I wish the chicken sandwich had some pepper jack cheese and a toasted bun, but this by far was the most flavorful sandwich I have had in my life! Be careful though, because in my opinion, the mild sandwich should be classified as hot. However, I will definitely be back! Friendly staff, really good battered fries with a seasoning that’s not too heavy. Both the comeback sauce and raunch sauce were fire! I’ve had a ton of chicken sandwiches in Charlotte, and this by far is probably the best one!

The staff was extremely helpful and kind. I ordered the Sando hot, the sandwich was very good. However, be mindful that the slaw diminishes the heat, as the tenders my partner had were spicier while being medium.
