But what’s worse is I called the store the next day (this morning) and the general manager refuses to refund it unless I can produce a receipt. If the kiosk printed one, I’m sorry but I just tossed it. I was clearly there last night as I have their order number sticker on the bag, and other details, but manager refuses. I still have the tainted chicken, and he refuses. And he suggested there’s no way they could have given me chicken with this paper baked into it. He offered me a replacement meal but I’m not going to be back in that area.
More about this place. When I arrived, I stood at the counter waiting for anyone to take my order for a pretty long time. A door dash driver came in after me and he too was waiting a long time. We could hear the crew just chatting in the back. Mixed in with prepping some drive thru order, I think, but also for sure just having casual conversation. I gave up and went to the kiosk. The door dash driver got a bit upset and started calling out for staff, calling it unprofessional that he’d had to wait so long. And he was right. But the staff immediately escalated things by lecturing him that they were busy doing an order in the back (an exaggeration imo). I don’t think they understood how long we’d stood there waiting. The driver yelled back at them, and the manager abruptly canceled the guy’s order and 86’d him. It’s true the driver lost his temper in the back and forth but that whole situation was the staff’s fault if you ask me. First by being oblivious to the inside customers waiting (ok a human mistake?), and then by reflexively lecturing the guy when he complained.
The boxes weren’t closed, the bag was open, the food wasn’t hot. I ordered dark meat and it was all white pieces, the 3 side containers were half filled. Chicken tenders were tiny. The fry oil has an unusual, almost rank flavor. Overall, Popeye’s sells very salty food, thrown in a bag with little to recommend.
And expensive for such a badly put together meal!
The FredMeyer deli counter and KFC are much better for fried chicken and sides. Word.
Now you know, too.
1 bite each & it was mostly breading
I also ask if they have some kind of ‘value drink’ once I was already at the window and she said they did. So i gave her my card, and when she handed it back with my food. She said that was an additional $4.29 for a small sweet tea of some kind.
Asked for a spicy 2 piece w dark meat and a strawberry Fanta.
Got a half full sprite, 1 chicken breast (not spicy), no biscuit (mostly annoyed by this- how do you miss the whole biscuit?), no condiments, no seasoning packs. No receipt was given.
I was so excited for something to take over this space but this is not it. Go to literally any other Popeyes in north or east Portland.
