Popeyes in Athens , Texas is a rip off. I was there last night . I ordered the 1/4 pound popcorn shrimp dinner . I was so appalled at what the brought out to me for 11.79. 12 small pieces see pic I attach. After I waited extra time cause the cook didn’t hear my order. Another 10 minutes . I opened the box to like what the heck
The manager said yes it looks like 1/4 pound . 12 little pieces. For 12.00 you can definitely find better . Heck you could go to a real seafood restaurant and eat a shrimp platter. Don’t waste your money you will be disappointed and then angry they got over on you. That manager at night had a smirk on her face as I questioned the size of it.

Dear Popeyes and Franchise Owner,
I am writing to formally complain about a distressing experience at your Athens restaurant today, March 2, 2026.
I placed an online order for pickup at 12:50 p.m. Upon arrival, I found a line out the door and only three staff members working. I was not helped until 1:33 p.m., at which point my order was still not ready. Due to my limited lunch break as a clinic professional, I requested to cancel the order. I was incorrectly told by staff that I had to cancel it myself, despite your policy stating orders cannot be modified once placed. When I called the provided number, I was directed to a chat support system that also lacked a cancellation option.
When I attempted to speak with the manager on duty, Andrew, he was rude and failed to offer an apology or resolution. The staff was argumentative, and the overall lack of professional management, scheduling, and sense of urgency was appalling. Having spent my career in management and the food service industry, including roles as a head chef, I find this level of service unacceptable.
I have always enjoyed Popeye’s, but given this experience, I will no longer frequent this location and will be sharing my feedback with my colleagues and patients. I hope you will address these management and service failures with the franchisee and staff involved.

I usually like their chicken but they can definitely be inconsistent. I’m leaving this review today because my wife got home with our 8 piece chicken meal and only had 7 pieces of chicken. Already upset with all these high price for chicken at least give me what I pay for. We will have to open the box and count before we drive 15 minutes home…..better yet, won’t be back until prices come down for cheap chicken!!!

My husband order the food was exceptional, the chicken was hot with heat and spicy, the red beans and rice were hot with heat and the butter biscuits were delicious and buttery not to leave out the jalapeño were fresh and spicy hot.

Placed an order through the app for pick up but pulled up and was told they’re closed before the listed closing time. But the app didn’t allow me to cancel and told me I had to speak to a store member. The store member told me they could do nothing. The app said an order can’t be canceled and offered me $20 credit — why would I want a credit when I already paid and didn’t receive my food?? This store seemingly always has issues now when it used to be great service and fresh food. The past two years have been downhill and every time we try, it’s a let down. I just want my money back.

Horribly slow service -understaffed. They have no business being in the fast food business. I put in a mobile order got there and wanted nearly 15 minutes in the drive thru just to be told to pull into parking and wait longer. Manager said it was just him and the one cashier.

This location always serve cold chicken. Then some fresh chicken is made and if you wait for the fresh chicken they would put the cold that being sitting for awhile and then add the fresh chicken to the cold chicken. This doesn’t make any sense. If I have to wait , then all the chicken should be fresh. The manager doesn’t have any customer service skills at all. I drive 30 minutes to get some good Popeyes chicken and sides. Please address this issue and in return you might get more customers. This is affecting your business to make money and downgrading the brand.

Popeyes in athens is terrible.wont go back
It appeared both women in the front was definitely on some something.both very spaced out.had to ask for more ice 5 times.just had deer in headlight look.the lady with tats on face and hands was definitely out there.scratched here head pi c ked her but and never washed hands and serving fries.threw mine away. Only person working was the guy cooking chicken.terrible place.
