We decided to reluctantly give our local Popeyes one more chance after having incorrect orders and old food several times prior. We should’ve known better but this time around we dined in anyway. To start we were given to-go boxes instead of a dine-in tray, we were missing two drinks and received no silverware. We ordered one regular chicken tender combo and one spicy. We noticed both looked regular so when the employee brought us our missing cups we asked about it and he pointed at one and said it was spicy and when asked a second time to confirm he just pointed again. The “spicy” tenders looked identical to the regular tenders and didn’t taste spicy. Once we brought it to the counter for a manager to see, they then decided to make us fresh spicy tenders and let us know they’d be right out. The employee that lied to us originally tried to bring us old regular tenders AGAIN but the manager stopped him and the spicy ones came out shortly after. Basically the only fresh food we got was fought for and the rice beans was only rice. We will not be coming back. No one apologized not even once. It’d be easier to understand if accountability was taken.

I stopped going to Popeyes a little while back due to the slow service and the poor quality of the food preparation. I recently went back because my mom wanted some chicken and I have to say it was a huge difference. The workers seemed more attentive to the customers and the food was prepared quickly and correctly. I think it was largely due to the new Manager Karen. I sat back and observed the staff while my order was being prepared and she stood out to me. The way that she interacted with the staff was professional yet firm. She encouraged the staff to be friendly and engaging with the customers and to pay attention to detail. She had the staff repeat the orders back to ensure accuracy and also to thank the customers for their business. This was totally different than my experience before. I will definitely be going back as long as the new Manager Karen is in charge. Keep up the good work Popeyes. We need more restaurants like this in Ennis.

Top notch experience! The food was good, hot, and fresh, and there was no wait time at all, which was a huge plus. Everything came out quickly and tasted great. On top of that, Karen the manager was absolutely excellentp rofessional, friendly, and clearly on top of everything. You can tell she truly cares about both the customers and the quality of service. Maybe because this is a new location & has not been open but a couple of months, but the service is beyond terrible!
You can bet your wait time will be anywhere from 30-60 minutes!
For people on their lunch hour, or Dashers, etc. it is quite FRUSTRATING!
Even the simplest thing on the menu takes forever to prepare.
No apologies for the long wait, nobody moving in a fast pace, (robots) and no friendly greeting or welcoming voices.
It’s like you interrupted their day by entering their establishment!
One visit was enough for me!
Management isn’t any better!

I went through the drive through at about 5:00 pm on Thursday January 15 2026. The staff seemed friendly. I ordered the 8 piece family meal. 2 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 wings, and 2 drum sticks. With a side order mash potatoes and gravy. I got 5 of the worst thighs I’ve ever seen in my life along with 3 drum sticks. And no mash potatoes. Do not eat at the Popeyes in Ennis Texas, unless you want to donate $30 to the good people at Popeyes. I use to love this restaurant but this is twice I’ve been disappointed. I will never eat there again. A man that is 6′ 3″ and 220 lbs should not be able to eat a family meal of 8 pieces of chicken and still be hungry. I’m going to pray for the business owners of this establishment. Because the employees are running this business into the ground.

Totally ruined the sandwich and made me question if the rest was safe to eat. This isn’t just about taste — it’s a health risk. Y’all need to do better in the kitchen.

2/23 7-7:30pm. Workers were nice but took around 20 min to get 3 combo meal. The mixed chicken was terrible with hardly any meat on them, stale and burned it only ended up in the trash. They were out of legs, Items were left out that we paid for but didn’t want to go all the way back to get them. Biscuits also stale. For waiting 20 min you would expect something was being freshly made but the tenders weren’t hot either. Now 2 of us are feeling sick going back and forth to the bathroom only a few hours later from eating there and hoping it’s not food poisoning as we hadn’t had any other food from anywhere else this day.
