Had an absolutely great experience at the Popeyes location in Loves Park, IL (5207 N 2nd St) this time around! Went through the drive-thru around 5pm to grab the family a 12-piece dinner, and wow what a turnaround from past visits.
This spot used to have constant issues: the drive-thru board was always busted or in disrepair, and the staff often seemed disorganized and unprofessional. But that’s firmly in the past now. Night and day difference!
The order board was bright, clear, and well-lit. The speaker was crystal clear no more struggling to hear. Henry was at the window and taking orders, and he was fantastic super friendly, helpful, and on point. The order came out 100% correct, they suggested some smart upgrades that made the meal even better, and Henry hooked us up with some extra flavorful dipping sauces that were a game-changer.
Big thanks to the manager and/or regional team for stepping up proper staffing, fixing the equipment, and creating a vibe where the crew actually seems to want to be there and deliver great service. The food at Popeyes is always solid and delicious, but these upgrades to the ordering process and the staff’s professionalism are much-needed and make a huge difference.
Highly recommend hitting this drive-thru now keep up the awesome work, team! We’ll definitely be back.

Almost $100.00 was spent on 02-20-2026 – purchasing lunch for 4 people. Picked it up at the drive-thru.
The chicken was ok but the pieces of chicken seem to be getting smaller. Also seems like at times there is more coating than chicken on some of the pieces.
The ordering by pieces is a nice feature.

Primary issue was:
We ordered 2 large sides of mashed potatoes & 2 large sides of coleslaw for the 4 of us. We received 4 containers of sides – which was accurate.
But what we got – were 4 half filled containers. We were able to fit 2 orders of each in one container. As a result – we ran out of the sides for the lunch that day.
A call was made today to ask about sizing of the side containers – but there was no resolution – as all I understood was – that 3 scoops go in a container. It appears it does not matter if the container is full???
The request was made to speak to the manager. The person who answered did not say they were the manager – just said they could talk to me. A clear answer as to why the containers were only half filled was never received.

I come here as a door dash driver. It is consistently a 30-45 minute wait for 1 order. The staff are rude and ignore you. I literally deny the popeyes orders unless doordash makes me accept them because i lose money waiting for them. It wouldnt be as bad if the staff werent the worst. I spend all day everyday in restaurants and this is the worst experience in rockford.

During todays visit i was ignored by staff when my order was ready to pick up. I watched it getting cold behind the counter while the staff ignored my asking about the order (i was told they were waiting on tenders) 15 minutes later when i asked again i got given my order with no drink (premium lemonade).

Not to mention while i was waiting i watched 3 other groups of customers walk out because of rude/bad service.

Also read the negative reviews. The owner responds with something like we value you feedback and take it seriously to most the 1 stars…. But clearly doesn’t address any issues in store cause the 1 star reviews are all the same issues after months of them!

I had the worst experience I’ve ever had in a drive through today at Popeyes on N 2nd street in Loves Park. My 77 year old father brought me along to go get 2 chicken tenders meals with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. First we went to the E. State street location. They were closed for maintenance ( but never updated their Google Business Profile to let others know). So then we drove another 15 mins to get to their nearest location. We arrived at 5:03 pm. I know because I texted my girlfriend right before we pulled the parking lot. We waiting for 30 mins in the drive through in 93 degree weather, waiting for someone to take our order. About 3 mins before our order was taken, we saw the cook get out of his car and go back inside. His break stopped operations for 30 mins. Of course, as past food service employee, breaks are necessary, but you shouldn’t halt operations for it and have a manager or someone else cook while your main cook is on break.

We finally start to order and the intercom system was terrible. We couldn’t hear her at all and she couldn’t hear us. She kept adding 5 pice meals instead of 8. She asked us to come to the window, so we did. (The girl working the window was very nice and polite. She did nothing wrong and deserves a raise for dealing with the mismanagement of this restaurant on the day.) after we ordered the 8 piece meal combos, she asked us for our sides. We said mashed potatoes and gravy and Cole slaw. They were OUT of mashed potatoes and gravy…at a chicken restaurant…unbelievable mismanagement. We ordered Mac and cheese instead and was charged extra for the upgrade even though they didn’t have the side we wanted. The total came to $59.76 for two 8 piece combo meals (without drinks somehow). We were so tired of waiting and the disappointment that we just paid it and left.

I would not recommend this location or Popeyes in general to anyone at this point. Worst drive thru experience I have had in 49 years of life. Please do better for the other customers, you’ve lost 3+ today.

Drove from Madison WI and my online order isn’t don’t yet.. ??? Ticket wasn’t pulled until I walked in the door to ask for my order. Where’s the convenience in online. Over 1 hour, when asked cashier to speak to a manager, she tell cashier and every one in here well she just gonna have to wait…. I’m trying to do 4 jobs…. after I’ve worked 6-14 hr days straight… I would expect a little more professionalism and respect. Corporate needs to come correct this site….. 5:22pm order.. an hour drive, walk in 6:33pm its almost 7 and still serving people walking in the door, I’ve been on the phone and off with customer service… nothing,

We’ve come here a few times since moving to town and we’ve been satisfied every time. The employees are polite. The food is fresh.

Update: My wife and I grabbed chicken on New Years Eve (last night). The employees were obviously busy as hell but they did a great job of getting customers their food and with a smile on their faces.

Went there and went through the drive through, waited about 10 minutes and didn’t move any, so decided to go in and order, waited in there probably another 10 minutes before placing my order. I only ordered a red beans and rice and one order of fried pickels, all in all took me about 45 minutes to get my items, dining room was a mess, they were messing up everyone’s order..Not a happy place to go..

This specific location was the only one I had a issue with… no chicken sandwich which is not the biggest deal no fries no biscuits soda machine not working its just the sum of everything and Noone seemed to care to fix any of the issues. Food that we did get was good and and they kinda made up for what we didn’t get. We ordered 5 PC chicken strips with fries and drink around 6 on Sunday. I’ve never really had that many issues at a place before I’m sure it was just a coincidence everything happened on that 1 day.

Me and my boyfriend went here and we got some food. Obviously we got one spicy and one classic. They were both classic a lady that was there. I found a Hair and her food and the workers there didn’t do anything very dissatisfied with Popeyes will never be eating at one ever again.

I only actually got the food I was trying to get at this Popeyes 1/3 times I have been here. The first time there was an empty drive thru and we were pretty rudely told it would be 15 minutes before we could even order and then we stopped getting responses, which is when we tried to go into the lobby to speak with them or at least sit to wait but it was closed with no sign explaining why. The second time we ordered through the app to avoid wait times, and after a significant wait we did finally get our food and it was great. But the third time, today(around 1pm on a Monday), we ordered on the app again only to be told once we arrived that they didn’t have any tenders or sweet tea, and were given lemonade and bone-in chicken instead. This was an over $30 order where they only actually fulfilled the mashed potatoes and one drink, and due to the way Popeyes support works I cannot even contact a human representative to sort this out, only their chatbot which will not load after a certain number of messages or their number which tells you it will hang up and send you a text to discuss further which never arrives. I am convinced there’s not a single good Popeyes in the area, and you can bet I won’t be ordering from them anymore.
