Popeyes is one of my favorite chains. I have a lot of nostalgia for their food. The Gainesville FL store on Main St. has to be the most poorly managed restaurant I’ve ever tried to eat at. It took an hour to get a three peice chicken, though they never had what I ordered. I ordered white meat spicy with two sides and a biscuit. The young man pulling the chicken didn’t seem to know the difference between thighs and breasts. Both he and the manager explained they didn’t have wings. The manager said there was no gravy (I ordered a side of gravy and they let me pay for it). They prepared the sides and set them on the counter while they waited (twice, at “twelve minutes” each) for spicy chicken to be cooked. I feel bad for the crew, from manager down they all seemed incredibly stressed. I don’t know if this particular store has a mandate to only cook classic dark meat but this is the fourth time I’ve visited where they didn’t seem capable of fulfilling a simple order. Three other patrons, two elderly, had been waiting before I arrived and the couple said it took an hour and a half for them to receive six orders of shrimp. The order filling process seemed haphazard; put shrimp in six open boxes, leave them sitting open on the counter, fill the chicken for another order, do my two sides, look at the shrimp, look at the chicken, take an order, fill another order, put the wrong chicken in my bag while the people waiting on the shrimp were still waiting. The manager said there was nothing she could do. I didn’t ask for a refund in the store but others were and a woman on her lunch break asked them to just give her some food so she could get back to work, she had to ask three times over the course of about thirty minutes to finally recieve a bag. Who knows if her’s was correct. Mine was not. I was missing one three piece and the sides that had been sitting on the counter for almost an hour were placed in the bag. Though this location is close to my home, I doubt I’ll be back. I don’t know if it’s corporate, food chain supply, training, or staffing, but this restaurant is not functioning.

This genuinely might be, without exaggeration, the worst food experience I have ever had. Ordered ahead, got there, saw my food on the counter, door locked. I tried the door 3 separate times and it was locked, so I had to sit in the drive through for 45 minutes even though they were letting some customers in and locking the door for some? At like 7:30. Not even close to closing. I still have no idea how I was supposed to get in as I tried two different doors. Customer inside looked at me confused on why i couldn’t get in and said they were locking it? Huge pothole right outside the speaker. Wrong order handed to me at first which I had to recognize. Food comes out cold, missing sauce, missing utensils. And finally, when I get home, there’s a hair in my mashed potatoes.

I want to start this by saying this location should be closed in all honesty. We got there yesterday, it was 8 of us, around 7pm (02/08/26) and there were about another 6 people standing there waiting for pick up orders. They said they had been waiting for over 20 minutes. We stood there by the counter waiting to be greeted or assisted, no one said a word to us for over another 20 minutes until I had to speak to the manager I believe because he was wearing a grey collared shirt and told him we hadn’t ordered yet. The ladies in the back were dealing with food while texting on their phone also while no one was neither greeting us nor taking our order. The only reason we stayed was because we had my handicap uncle and we didn’t want to make him make more efforts. They gave us spicy tenders, I went to return them and he gave me another ones and I guess the tenders were mixed because we got spicy tenders again mixed with regular tenders. Then they closed the doors. The bathroom was out of service. Just a big ol mess. I’m not one to leave but the service was terrible.

I went here previously a few weeks ago, and they were severely understaffed. My order was done wrong as well. I went back again today, and found a lot of those issues seem to be addressed after they closed down temporarily over the past week or so. It’s good to see corporate/management is involved with trainers on site. Staffing and friendliness is much better, and the food was excellent. I hope they can keep this up.

My experience today was genuinely impressive. The restaurant was very clean, the service was professional from the moment I walked in, and the food was fresh, hot, and prepared quickly. I use the Popeyes app regularly and I enjoy dining here on Mondays after a long workday, so I know what my usual experience is. But today stood out — today was one of the first times this location truly delivered the level of quality and care I expect. The team worked efficiently, the atmosphere felt welcoming, and everything came together to make this visit noticeably better than many others. I hope this level of service continues, because today showed just how great this location can be.

I had a surprisingly great experience at this Popeyes location today. The service was sharp, timely, and noticeably better than what I’ve seen here before. The food was hot, fresh, and exactly how it should be served. The atmosphere was clean and organized, which I appreciated.

I spoke with the manager, who mentioned it was her first day at this location. She was straightforward and assured me that she intends to raise the standard here. Based on what I experienced today, she’s already off to a strong start.

This visit showed real improvement, and I expect the quality to stay consistent moving forward.

I placed a mobile order at this location for drive through because I had my child under 6 in the car.when I pulled up to the speaker I was told I had to come inside and place another order because they didn’t have the food I ordered.(it was just one thing they didn’t have but held the entire order and tried to make me leave my child in the car alone to reorder the entire order instead of being accommodating because they didn’t have the food). After a two min back and forth between the window guy and the front of house manager looking for a refund because I was not getting out. I was told I couldn’t be refunded it has to be refunded through the app and no one in the store can walk you through the process.i finally got a an employee who was willing to satisfy the customer.Keisha and I mean the light skinned one needs to be promoted! She said it’s the holidays it’s not worth arguing with the customer over money they spent!!! Give Keisha a raise!!!!!!
