Most recent health score was an 87, wow.
While I was ordering, attendant didn’t notify me of the wait due to a glove shortage until about five minutes after I was waiting, after I asked to pull up because I was already waiting at the window for a couple of minutes. Was told “about five more minute’s” when told the first time, but ended up waiting an additional 15.
When approached the first time I just requested a refund so I could leave and thought that was being finalize when she went back in. After giving it some time I went to check on the cancelled transaction but was told the food was almost ready.
While I was inside the workers were naming off all that they didn’t have available, as if doing an inventory checklist, and they were out of quite a bit. Not sure if the managing staff pays attention or what but they’ve got to be better prepared… especially with gloves around 1030am.
They were kind and gave me fries for the wait but I’d have rather gotten a refund with that wait.
Sandwich was great once received, hot and juicy and presented well; fries were also hot and enjoyed.
I usually always have to wait at least five minutes just for one food item like chicken strips or a chicken sandwich so I don’t go back as often, the wait just isn’t worth it.
Food is sometimes a hit or miss so I’m usually never enticed to go either… add in the low sanitation score and I wonder why I go back again.
Tonight was especially frustrating. I’ve been waiting for 35 minutes just for six pieces of chicken wings. I was told that one employee walked out, and the remaining staff member was left doing everything — dropping chicken, frying food, and handling orders alone. While I can empathize with the employee who is clearly overwhelmed, this seems like a long-standing management issue that hasn’t been addressed.
What’s even more discouraging is watching customers who placed larger orders after me receive their food first, while I’m still waiting on a very small order. It’s disheartening to see the lack of operational organization and quality control.
At this point, it’s not a one-time inconvenience — it’s a consistent pattern. Management really needs to step in and address staffing and efficiency if they want to rebuild trust in this location.
After placing my drive thru order with the very dry female voice I pull up to the window which is open… about 3 to 4 inches and behind it is the blank stare of the young lady who simply gives me my total and reaches for my card. She hands my card back and turns back around without a word, reaches my cup to me, without a word, and to my surprise my piping warm food was hanging out the window… you guessed it… without a word.
Now, here’s the bad part.
As I check my bags, to my horror I then hear my fiance gasp.. “omg! Do you see their score!?”
82.7 y’all.
82.7!!!!!!
I placed a mobile order through the app at approximately 5:13 p.m. When I arrived at the location, there were only four people in the lobby. I waited patiently until about 5:40 p.m., when an employee finally asked for my name for pickup. After giving her my name, she stated she could not find my order. I explained that I ordered through the app and provided the order number, but she again said they did not have it and would not be able to make it.
I contacted customer support through the app while still inside the restaurant. The support team advised me to show the employee my receipt and order confirmation, which I did. Despite showing clear proof of purchase, the employee insisted that if the order did not “come through on their end,” they would not prepare it.
She then called her manager (I assume), who also refused to resolve the situation. Instead of trying to assist, the manager raised her voice at me over the phone. When I explained that I was chatting with app support, she literally yelled, “Then you tell them to send us your tickets!”
As someone who has worked in customer service, I understand challenges can happen with mobile systems. However, arguing with a paying customer — especially one who can show a confirmed order and receipt — is unacceptable. There was no effort made to troubleshoot, verify, or resolve the issue. I was treated with disrespect.
It is not worth losing a loyal customer over a $20+ order and future business. Proper training in customer service, especially with the increasing reliance on mobile ordering, is clearly needed. Customers are the reason businesses stay successful, and this experience did not reflect that understanding.
I hope this location takes steps to improve how situations like this are handled in the future.
We returned back to the store to get the correct order and were told it would be 5 minutes. They somehow still had to drop more chicken. We were asked if we’d rather have spicy tenders this time and that they don’t usually sell 8 pieces tenders (usually 12), so they assumed it was bone-in. They never gave us a receipt, so kind of hard to dispute that we just ordered tenders… As we continued to wait, someone came to order and they were told that they were out of fries. It took 15 minutes from the time my husband walked in until we got our corrected order. Two cars were in the drive-thru when we came back and both had to pull up to wait for their food. I will say they gave us 12 tenders, which we appreciate, but not sure it makes up for waiting an hour for them.
Also, plot twist, the cook had an entire tray of chicken prepped and ready to go the entire time. Someone just didn’t look.
I get having to wait on food occasionally, and we’re obviously understanding of that given we opted to wait 15 minutes. But Popeye’s whole gig is literally chicken and biscuits. It’s a Sunday afternoon and we ordered around 3:45. It’s hard not to find this whole experience just wild, ridiculous, and completely avoidable.
This isn’t the first (or second, or third…) time we’ve waited ages for food at this Popeye’s location. So if you plan to come here, don’t make plans for afterward…
I was going to give this a one-star review, but I couldn’t stop laughing when reading the sheer, unadulterated chaos that is this review, so I upped it to two stars.
