At one time I enjoyed stopping at Popeyes to enjoy some chicken tenders w/hot sauce, dirty rice/beans and rice, and coleslaw. No more, at least not at this Popeye’s.
I have never had such a poor experience. First I wanted what I fondly recalled above, but the menu board showed an ungainly price, (See pic.). Three piece combo for $15.99! Worse the attendant told me all the prices had been increased, but hadn’t gotten around to updating the signs. So I ordered a chicken sandwich combo at 12.99. Seemingly a better value. With sides of beans and rice, and coleslaw (they don’t have dirty rice anymore).
But the worst of it was the food. Absolutely horrid. The chicken itself was moist and tender but the fry coating was a combination of cornflakes and cornmeal laid on thick. The bun could have been good except it was black scorched on a flat top and tasted it. There was a small squirt of mayo(?) and two slices of pickle. No lettuce or tomato like Wendy’s nor did they asked if I wanted any.
The coleslaw was dry chopped cabbage with very little mayonnaise and no seasoning. Worse my fondly remembered beans and rice, was brown paste and tasteless rice, no seasoning.
So I threw out the bun, picked off the chicken coating, only tasted the coleslaw and beans and rice, for a total bill of $14.03. Not exactly a value meal. (See pic of Wendy’s drive through menu to compare.)
Now for my drive thru Popeye’s eating companions, there weren’t any. But directly across the highway the Wendy’s drive thru lined them up (see pic), and this is at 1:55 in the afternoon, (see pic).
I Just can’t see this store hanging in there. By the way, the Schenectady, Albany St Store has always been good.

Amazing place to come and eat. With a nice warm feeling with freshly battered and deep-fried chicken it is a wonderful place to be. If you’re not for spicy dont worry they have something for everyone. The staff have amazing customer service. They may not always be fast but it is worth the wait. Highly recommend from one chicken lover to another

Traveling through town and wanted to eat some Popeyes for dinner. Excellent choice by far. The food was made to order and the customer service was amazing. Hands down the best Popeyes I’ve been to in years. Thank you Alani and to your team.

Fried pickles were awful, the breading was all dough. The coleslaw was a joke, lucky if it was a full scoop ,looked to be maybe a tablespoon of coleslaw. Prices are ridiculous!! $33 for 2- 3pc fingers meals. Our 1st time trying and we wont be back!

I don’t know why I continue to go back (won’t anymore). Most times, when I order Spicy chicken (their signature item) I’m told they don’t have any and it’ll be a 15 minute wait. Most times I leave empty-handed because they can’t provide their signature item. This last time, I ordered online and went 15 minutes later, anticipating the wait. I got my order and got home. The order was wrong: it wasn’t spicy it was mild. The place is reasonably clean, though; but not sure what I have to do to get spicy chicken.

Also, it seems the owner is very good at apologizing to everyone giving reviews; but not so good at doing anything about it.

Edit: After raising this with Popeye’s Corporate offices, I was told I was not entitled to a refund for the improperly filled order. so not only is this location unable to fulfill the order, Popeye’s as a whole, is unwilling to stand by their product and service.

The store itself was fairly clean which I appreciate but the service was absolutely terrible. We stood in there for at least 10 minutes waiting for someone to even check the front, two separate men walked by and completely ignored me and the other patrons in the store. When he finally decided to take any orders he was very flat, rude, wouldnt make eye contact and then walked off and ignored the other customer before he walked back and helped him after telling him to wait while he grabbed two cups from the side. It was just a joke of an exchange and I’ve never seen someone care so little for any job.

Constantly gets orders wrong, especially if you are in the drive through so make sure you check before you leave. Waited almost 10 minutes several times to have my order taken at the speaker till I just left or went inside. Ordered signature hot wings and didn’t even put sauce on them, just plain wings

Food tastes good and service was good. However we got chicken wings and both my boyfriend and I got food poisoning and have been up all night running for the bathroom. Will never go there again.

OMG, there is NO more chances with the Popeyes in JTown NY, workers don’t want to work and when you order to dine in, it still comes in a bag, but NO napkins or spork, when you go back to the counter, you have to wait, another 10 minutes.. Only good thing is the shrimp tackle box is back, bad thing is I ordered 2 and told whatever she was, I ordered 1 with biscuit and mashed potatoes and other with a biscuit and was told it will cost more.. if I’m paying for my meals, I should get what I want, the way I want it, even when I’m pointing out, what meal I want… It’s really sad companies fail because employees can’t do their job.. young workers need a babysitter or they won’t do their jobs correct. No snow on the walkway, but a lot of rock salt down, but when snow is on the ground, NO salt down or even shoveled, by the doors… WOW, I’ll stick with Amsterdams Popeyes..

Go to any other popeyes, this one does not train its employee’s at all, they cannot get orders correct, they cant do the basics of their job. if you really like popeyes, your better off driving to any other popeyes.
