Reviews
When I finally received my order, the kids’ meals were missing the toys and juice. I contacted customer service about the issue. The food quality was also very disappointing—the sandwiches were extremely greasy and had almost no chicken inside, just breadcrumbs. We couldn’t find or taste any real chicken at all.
I will not be coming back again.
Fast forward to trying the food. It was okay, a bit overpriced though. Actually, you’re better off going to Chick Fil A, or the Burger King in Mahwah. I’ve had better food there and both of their quantities are higher AND for a much more reasonable price.
I might give this place a second shot, I’ve never stepped inside yet. I don’t know when, not anytime soon though.
This is a brand NEW location and in all honesty, it’s a 4* Popeye’s spot but I’m giving the 5 to offset the deluge of impatient reviews that are bound to come in over the next few days.
The drive-thru was SLAMMED when I pulled up, but I always dine in and they didn’t get overwhelmingly busy until I sat down after receiving my order.
I got my usual – 3pc Dark Meat, Spicy, Red Beans and Rice, Dr. Pepper no ice.
The Good – Chicken was cooked to perfection, the spicy was seasoned so that you knew it wasn’t mild, which is a big plus for Popeye’s locations in the area. They got the ratio of Red Beans to Rice perfect. The rice was fresh and didn’t taste like it was refrigerated the night before. The staff was very attentive and was patient with the demanding customers expecting everything to flow without any hiccups during the 1st week. Even though they were very busy by the time I left the restaurant was super clean. Another big plus for area Popeye’s locations.
The “Bad” – I put bad in quotes because there’s nothing the staff can do about the following points… The layout of the dining area is awful, it forces the place to be a grab n’ go joint as opposed to a sit and eat establishment. The kiosks are in a poor location leading to a bottleneck in front of the register (where you ARE able to order) speaking to an actual person can be a pleasant experience, especially when the cashier is attentive and seems to care about the job they’re doing, but during busy hours this is going to be an issue unless they come up with a solution.
Overall – Excellent staff and management with room to grow. Once they figure out the flow of the day and how to corral the front of the house, they’ll be a 5* spot. The food was solid and I’ll be back with an update on the other go-to menu items (sandwich/strips/etc)
My one personal recommendation: don’t leave the biscuits in as long as they were just a bit overdone.
Good luck, and thanks again for the great food. I’ll be back
