Veteran lunch place offering hot & cold sandwiches, plus a bar with trivia nights & live music.

Sandwich shop next to the boardwalk. The place is very busy at lunchtime (from noon to 2pm). It takes a good 15 minutes to order and another 15-20 minutes to receive your order.
The sandwiches are varied and very good. Generous portions, good prices, great location.
The sandwich of the day on our visit was breaded shrimp. Delicious.
We enjoyed the experience, but the wait is worth considering.

Stopped for lunch. Seems to attract a fun crowd, and the food was tasty.
Nothing specifically notable, but I’d 100% eat there again.

We stop for lunch every time we’re in Manteo. My wife had the special, a shrimp po boy. She said it was one of the best she had on the East Coast. I went with the heart attack wrap and wasn’t disappointed. The cucumber salad was good as always. Other comments about the lines, seating, and wait are valid, but definitely worth the stop.
Stopped again and still very good. Had the Fried Chicken sandwich. Excellent!!!

Best fried chicken sandwich you will ever eat! The pickle brine really makes a huge difference. Every year I visit OBX this is a must stop, this year I was first in line and glad for it as it is possible they run out! Don’t miss it, don’t question it, just do it!

Ben just got fries, I had gotten the Cali wrap, and Dave got the Greek wrap all with adding fries. After finishing off half the wraps and half the fries is when I decided to snap a few photos.
The food is delicious, the service is awesome, and the whole place is just adorable. It was my first time eating here, and I loved every bite. The wraps were $14.45 bucks each (adding fries to make it $1.50 more, so if you don’t add fries, they’re $12.95) and worth every penny. The chicken is large pieces of breast and so filling. You can’t go wrong with such a large menu for a sandwich shop. Stop by and enjoy some lunch and then walk it off shopping at the shops and see the lighthouse. The littles can enjoy the playground by the water. It is truly a such place to visit.

Ordered a Philly sub and a Heart Attack wrap here to go. Both were done very quickly even though it was a very busy concert night. Filling, delicious, and thr Philly had a good amount of veggies and cheese. We ate on one of the piers and definitely created a new core memory!

Very American Name. That’s what attracted me. Ben Franklin wrote, among other things, the Poor Richards Almanac. I had to see what they were and how they tied the name in with food. Best burger I have had in more than a year. Pimento cheese on a 1/3 lb patty and fresh pickles, chopped onions, thick dill pickle… it was messy, but so good. Fries were flavorful and crisp, but I only ate a few. The burger took all the space. I love that you can sit inside, out on the covered patio, or on the lawn by the water. The mural is an excellent representation of the area. My wife got the crab cake sandwich which she enjoyed with onion rings and some of my fries. Excellent location and amazing food. All American Made!

Was in Mantio for a few days and visited a few places to eat. This day, I was downtown looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch. We stepped in here, and the line was very long. It was a bit disappointing but also a good sign that so many others thought the place was good. We waited out the line and ordered our lunches. I got the Ruben and an order of onion rings. The place was packed. There was no where to sit except outside on the porch where it was cold and blowing. Anyway, we got our order after about 30 minutes from the time we placed the order. The food came out hot and delicious. I believe it was worth the wait, but if you are in a hurry, don’t come in here.

This is an amazing Sandwich shop! The location is wonderful, the staff is friendly and helpful and the location is spotless and clean. This is honestly one of the best Italian subs I’ve ever had. I had the side of the artichoke pasta salad and Linda had the side of the battered fries. The food is exceptional and worth the price. The price is mid range for this type of food however, it is well worth it. This restaurant exemplifies what a five star review should be. The next time I’m in the Outer Banks area I am definitely going to go here again to get another sub or sandwich.

Stopped in for a few drinks (only, no food this visit) on a festive Saturday night. Poor Richard’s turns into more of a local bar than a “sandwich shop” every evening. Fine with me. And for the holidays, they rebranded the name as “Poor Rudolph’s”. Cute!
Service was prompt and friendly, the live band was excellent, and the crowd (that seemed to be mostly locals), plus the terrific holiday decor, gave a warm feeling to the spot overall. Even Santa stopped in!
Recommended for sure!
