Fun restaurant on the north end of downtown with attached bookstore. Delicious soups, pizza and sandwiches at reasonable prices. Very casual place with comfortable tables that you bus yourself.

Love they pay their employees a living wage plus health insurance.

The employee who took my order was unresponding and not helpful. They kept itching themselves when I started taking my order and when I asked for recommendations on topping combinations (for the #2 meal), I was brushed off and told to just look at the board. Honestly, I tipped because I was scared I’d get spit on my food?? I even thanked the same employee (dark long haired and tall) before I left and got met with “ .” Okayyy.

My family even noticed the employee was way nicer to the customers behind me. I’m disappointed because I was just looking to bond with my family here after a long week. Pizza was good, I didn’t love the toppings I picked out- which is why I tried asking for recommendations.

Edit: The fact this local business is one of the few who won’t respond to a review about a negative experience really says something… will not be returning.

We had the most beautiful bridal shower for our book loving bride out on the patio. The food, salad and charcuterie, was delicious and the setting was just perfect! Not too big and not too small for our group of 25. The staff was so easy to work with. Everything was just as we agreed! This little event spot is a gem in downtown Colorado Springs. We couldn’t have asked for anything better!

Poor Richard’s Restaurant is a gem! HUGE thanks to very kind DAVID for his GREAT service & extreme thoughtfulness. Pizza & sandwich were delicious at good prices. Poor Richard’s unique & cute complex (bookstore, greeting card & toy store, coffee bar, music events) lives up to its wonderful reputation. If we lived in CO Springs (we live in Denver), would definitely come here very often!

The house salad was the best item on the menu we tried. The pizza was nicely done. I had a Ruben sandwich, they were out of the marble rye, so I chose the wheat bread, it was just ok. Not enough meat or thousand island dressing.
Big place books, puzzles, jewelry, greeting cards like ten flavors of tea, and baked goods that we did not try.
I had the hibiscus tea and it was delicious. No sweetener but still satisfying.

We stopped in on a Sunday after enjoying the day walking around the downtown area. We ordered 3 large pies, a large salad with chicken, and 6 six drinks. Our total came out to about 150 bucks. It was pretty pricey, even though one of the pies was part of a family deal. My husband didn’t care much for the pizza. He said it lacked sauce, but the kids liked it, and I can see that the cheese was very fresh. The salad was very big and filling with lots of veggies, but the chicken did lack a little flavor. Overall, the service was good and the food was ok.

I have been eating at this restaurant since the mid 80’s. I wanted to take the time to thank the owner’s and especially the staff for good food and excellent service! I usually order a slice of pizza and a salad. Your salads and home made dressing are the best! What sets you apart is the freshness of your ingredients! I live out of town about an hour away but find myself craving food from this restaurant as your prices are completely affordable and your food is the best.
Many times I order a salad and literally it stinks. At Poor Richards, your salads are succulent and fresh! It is refreshing to know that I aways have a place I can trust when in town. Thank you again for all of your hard work! A loyal customer!!!!

It was so hot today, we wanted something light and cool to eat before we came up the mountain. What a neat place in town! The patio in the back is a refreshing get-away in the city! The pita plates and ice tea hit the spot. The food and service were great!

Iconic downtown eatery and bookstore. Great menu with a good variety of options with multiple choices for individuals looking for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. A variety of daily soups as well but honesty I’ve never ventured from my first meal there years ago which was the #1 pizza special with a 3-topping slice of your choice, a top notch house salad and a drink. It’s consistently amazing! Also theres a hidden patio in the back when its nice out!

Poor Richard’s has been around for quite some time. You walk in read their minimal menu, order at the counter, and pick up your order at the same counter. You clean up after yourself. The food is mediocre and definitely not anything to get excited about. The crowd are usually the usual that enjoy the walk and the company.
