This place is awesome! We eat there about once a week since the new owners took over in January. The owners are amazing members in the community and give back so much. I know they will have to raise their prices soon since the price of everything is going up.
Let’s talk about the white fish they have there first. Such good flavor and if you get the sandwich try it with their home recipe coleslaw and home recipe tarter sauce. Man so good. French fries, onion rings or jalapeño poppers are a good addition. Some of the best sodas, tea, and shakes around.
On the weekends he cooks up some BBQ. You gotta watch their Facebook page for dates and times. One of the pictures is pork belly tacos with an Alabama white sauce. AMAZING. Love this place and all the staff. They are what keeps America great, hard working, love giving great Americans.

I had been driving past the place for work for a couple weeks, and finally decided to stop on my way home. I wasn’t disappointed! The staff was great, and so was the breaded tenderloin and onion rings. When I’m back in the area I’ll be stopping by again, or even going slightly out of my way if needed.

I’ll start with saying I called my order in for pick-up, I didn’t want to have to wait around the restaurant on it. On that, I wasn’t disappointed. It was bagged, tagged, & ready to go when I arrived 30 mins after ordering as asked.
Normally, I can’t say enough good words about Poor John’s, but like the rest of us apparently inflation has hit them hard. Their prices have really gone up, 2 Smitty’s Tenderloins, 2 orders of Mushrooms (6 to 7 small Mushrooms in each order), & 2 med shakes for $36.00! Again, normally worth the extra, but this time the Tenderloins were over cooked to the point of being burnt, the grease was old, & left a lasting taste your mouth. I could only manage a few bites & my dog’s got the rest. The Mushrooms were just the opposite, as they were not quite done. Didn’t seem to have the bad greasy taste though. The shakes were excellent as always. This is a small town restaurant & it has survived over the years due to it’s abilities to bring country specialities & hometown taste to it’s customers. It gives the small community a meeting place, teens a summer job, farmers & family a good place for a break & a nice meal. They are allowed an off day or two. I do, on the other hand, really hope they can do something about those extreme prices.

Driving through on a visit from Texas and decided to stop in for dinner. Met the owner, Craig, and he was very friendly. Food was great (had the whitefish meal) and Craig let me try some of the brisket, which was delicious. Very affordable as well. Highly recommend.
