Amazingly located rustic roadside bar with views of the surounding hill county. They have numerous bar stools, tables, and outdoor patios, including terraces to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset. They have stages inside and outside hosting several acts per week beneath a Texas flag or the Texas sky. Also a great place to sip a lone star while watching the cowboys win.
No bad days here.
They have a large free parking lot behind the building.

It can definitely be a vibe. It was awfully loud given the inside was quite small. It was difficult to speak to the hostess, bartenders. You had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. It wasn’t a roadhouse per se , more like a dive bar. It had eclectic decor. And the live band was pretty decent! They have a small dance floor where you can slow dance with a partner or Texas two-step as a group (a small group). We ordered the chicken tenders with gravy. It came with fries and toast. It took about 15 minutes to get the food, but it was piping hot when we got it. The gravy tasted watered down, the chicken wasn’t anything fancy it seemed like frozen supermarket chicken stripe. The fries were tasty, and they seasoned them with salt and pepper (just for our order, they seemed to have more pepper than salt). This place is located on a hill, so you have to drive up the incline then drive around back to park. It was surprisingly clean besides tables that wer a actively in use. It was pretty busy and the 3 ladies working were working hard.

Great steak, great live music, great staff. The August 2025 calendar has 59 events on it. Something for everyone.

The food was tasty, the band (the West Texas Exiles) was an exceptional eclectic country rock band featuring mostly original songs with a couple covers done in their own style and sound, and the service was above and beyond the highest expectations. If you want to experience a fantastic little hill country honky Tonk, Poodies is Quintessentially Texas!

Excellent roadside find! The food, drinks, service, live music, and overall vibe was incredible. Swung by to just grab a bite to eat and started for several hours enjoying.

Highly recommend the Poodie Burger. It’s for a great kick with the spice. Seriously good if you enjoy a great burger.

Well done to the owners and staff. Will definitely be back.

Beer is cold but so is the staff. Unfriendly. barely spoke to us. Online looked like my kinda place as my husband is a musician and its definitely a place he could play but the food was not something I would want to eat again. Black n Blue burger had maybe a dot of blue cheese. Burger was not fresh it was frozen pressed patty and fries were very well done(crispy fried).Ok to go for drinks and live music with friends.

Poodies Hilltop is a multi generational stomping grounds for my family. There’s some history and it’s a Hill Country staple. That said, I do not support applying automatic gratuity without making it crystal clear you have done so. A party of 3 generally would not expect automatic gratuity applied to their bill and could in turn accidentally tip more than intended.

To Sharon, I highly recommend making some changes as state law requires the establishment to inform customers about the mandatory charge (service fee/auto gratuity), either through menu notices or signs.

The owner at Iron Wolf recommended this place to us for our Bachelorette group and we decided to try it out. Place was pretty cool, had plenty of seating inside and out, the bartenders were very patient and great with us. The food came out quick and the burgers were delicious, full of flavor and fresh. We enjoyed ourselves.

Great atmosphere with dance area in front of the inside stage. There most likely will be a cover charge even if you are only eating dinner there and didn’t technically come for the live music! The Poodie melt was amazing and the sweet potato fries were great too! Lots of outside seating too. Bathroom was clean and staff was friendly.
